  • We bought a 3 in 1 from M&P and regret it. I chose the biggest chassis and it is very bulky and looks too old fashioned, even though it is only a year old.

I was so determined to have a classic looking pram that I think I sacrificed practicality. It won't get into to either of our car boots, so there was no chance of an extra passenger whenever we went anywhere.

I would personally never get M&P again, I ended up buying their nursery furniture, highchair, pram and car seat, and really the only item I am really pleased with it the highchair, it is so practical. M&P customer service is appalling. The breaks failed on my pram (on a hill!) and they refused to sort it out. When I did finally get them to agree to help so many things went wrong with them collecting it that it went past its warranty and then they refused again to help. I think M&P have been on watchdog as well.

Over the last year so many new prams have come on to the market that I would recommend looking at them, as they seem to have been built for practicality. The frog is one I wish I had gone for. It folds up nice and small and apparently is suitable for nearly any boot of car.

Anyway, apologies for my rubbishing M&P but I have had a huge amount of disappointment with them, I'm not looking to start a debate, just my personal opinion.

I have heard the same, my friend bought the whole M&P range, the cot was really badly finished (staples no less that were all uneven and sticking out) and she had to send back 2 things that were faulty.
Customer services were very unhelpful, it took weeks to sort out and what should have been a happy time for her was very stressful.
The hood to the car seat faded in the sun, they told her it was misused as it shouldn't have been left in the car even though she has tinted windows and her baby was born in January, plus she didn't actually leave it in the car, the seat came out with the baby, and they wouldn't sell her a seperate hood ( I think the hood also goes on the pushchair) so it looks miss matched and scruffy, it's really put me off.

We have seen a silver cross 3 in 1 that is beautifully made and is cheaper which we will probably go for, I had siver cross with my last 2 and was very happy with them, British made too!

John Lewis have a good range and you can go in and test drive them with an assistant to talk you through, and of course you don't have to buy through them, good luck!
    Waddle you do eh?

I ordered a Loola from Kiddicare but it was really heavy despite being advertised as lightweight. I sent it back but it cost me £20 to do so. Other than that it seemed a nice pushchair. The adjustable handles were a waste of time. I'm 5ft 2 and found the heighest setting comfortable for me so not sure how tall people would feel about it.

I've already got a Jane Powertrack but it's so big and my little girl looks lost in it so I went to mothercare and bought a Cilitlite.

Personally I would never purchase another mothercare ownbranded pram/pushchair after owning one for 2mths and it promptly collapsing with my child inside... (I mean literally falling apart, not just closing!).

Just one note of advice that not many people think of...... make sure you can access the basket under the pram whilst it is fully reclined - saves stirring baby each time you put in/take out shopping from underneath.;)

I'll be sure to post if my one falls apart ! It seems really good though. Also I've yet to find a pushchair where the basket is fully accessible all the time. In fact the loola seemed unusable because they put bars across it to stop you putting any thing large (like a changing bag) in it. My Jane also has a useless basket it just seems to be the way they're made now.

I've a mamas & papas pliko pramette and the basket is still accessible when the seat is fully reclined in both pushchair and pram mode.:D

It wasn't just the fact my puchchair was faulty from Mothercare, it was their complete lack of customer care.
I just think myself lucky that the incident wasn't more serious and I wasn't crossing a road or anything dangerous when it happened.

I have a two week old son, but from my experience so far of my M&P Pliko P3, I'm impressed with it. With the car seat, they are around £325, but I bought mine from eBay for £150. It's fairly compact when compared to other pushchairs, but having said that I was surprised by how much space it took up in the boot of my car!

I'm not crazy about travel systems, especially if baby's going to be ravelling a lot. I can see why they're popular, no waking baby to move from one seat to another, but I'm inclined to think it's not good for little ones to be kept in that folded semi sitting position for too long. I think it does them good to lay flat, and have the oppurtunity to kick their legs.

If you do loads of walking, youwant good sturdy wheels, and if it's mostly about town, go for an umbrella folding type thing, v. quick to erect, fold and lightweight, non bulky.

Good luck, and enjoy every single precious moment.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Know you aren't looking for a debate, but have to stick up for M + P customer services. My sister passed her old changing table onto us...with a missing screw. B + Q could not deliver anything like the screw we were looking for. I emailed M + P about this 6 year old changing table...they asked for a digital photo to be emailed. Within 6 hours, the table was identified and a replacement screw set sent out. Superb.

I'm currently looking into buggies, so know how OP feels! Our handed down travel system works really well, so throughly agree with all advice on here about weight, car boot size etc.

If you're looking for maintain the budget, try the local rag or NCT sales to see what you can pick up...
