I've always used ebay for mine and thankfully never had a bad batch. Got the note myself last week as well and it is a great phone, cant fault it at all - does everything I wanted it for and more.
Make sure you update it to 4.0.4 android to get the max benefit from it as it may come with version 2.3.6 though mine came updated.
Also, you should invest in a hard case or leather flip case to keep it pristine especially considering the size of the phone - again ebay provides a lot of affordable options if you search for 'hard case' or 'leather wallet case' for the galaxy note.
