Oh noooo just looked at the uk debate forum and found a teeny weeny (for now!) little tesco ad on it on the side bar! Also I cant find an 'about us' button.....
Off to another favourite The Student Room!
(Also unsubscribing from the email as last thing I want is moneysupermarket in my inbox as well as in my face on tv!)0 -
OK so I finally made a decision, I have gone to Digital Spy for now - odd name but very crisp visuals so its pretty to look at as well as being useful, loads of good debate on there (found one on Aldi coleslaw lol - just my kind of food shopping thread!!) and loads on culture and tv reviews and competitions, diy, bargains, hot deals - all my favourites. I will keep my user name for now as there might be another MSE type forum coming along.... I think MoneySavingAlternative would be a good name but might not be possible as quite close name to this one. Hoping it will be more ethical style, fair trade and co-op ish - with some way of rewarding posters for the copy they write - not as mad as it sounds - think of ehow etc!
Bye for now guys, good luck with MoneySuperMarket and the meerkats and obsecenely expensive insurance and financial products. (I pay £192.00 a year for my car insurance. Where? Well, now that really would be telling!) See some of you at Digital Spy (probs owned by some big outfit too, but don't care for a bit - anything but MSupermkt!0 -
Well, the wheels are coming-off Facebook. Share price dropping, it's founder under investigation by the Feds, a $16Bn payout looming to users who sued for breach of the DCA after discovering F/B was tracking all their visits to sites with 'Login with F/B' on even though they had logged-out of F/B and lets not forget the potential $60Bn payout when Yahoo shred them in court for breach of 13 of their patents.
The trouble is, there have been many other forums mentioned within this thread, but if people spread to the four winds then a great deal collective help and knowledge will be lost.Never Knowingly Understood.

Now't has changed yet, Martin will still be here for a bit.0 -
I cannot say that I blame the man for the decision he made. No doubt most people would have done the same. However no longer trusting this site I will not be using it again.0

I was sceptical.....
This week I was looking for cheap travel insurance, so I checked the insurance tab on this site. Guess what the first and most prominant search suggestion engine was? Moneysupermarket. Air tickets? Money supermarket...
But they were the cheapest.....NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Well do you know the future plans for the MSE Charity? In 2010 they spent £170k compared to £43 income (net loss £127k)
There expenditure over the last 3 years varies significantly.. for all you know they have a big project in the pipeline for 2012 for which the £173k in the bank covers this and still leaves a 'reserve' for the charity.0 -
A lot of this post stinks of jealousy IMHO.
There was nothing stopping many other people giving consumer advice, or setting up websites a decade ago.0 -
I would not turn down 84 Million. I would have personally slapped martin around the head with a shovel if he had turned it down. Face it the guy had an idea and got lucky, very lucky.Iva started Dec 2018.0
