Our storage space seems to be filled with OH's DIY stuff which he collects but doesn't use much. :(

I had 7 x 500g tins of Khanum pure butter ghee without ethyl butyrate delivered yesterday from www.spicesofindia.co.uk and it's decorating the kitchen at the moment.

Also got a stash of Lactofree UHT milk because local Sainsbury's reduced it to 85p a carton (normally 1.26).

My mother has a utility room with fitted kitchen cupboards that are crammed full of pasta and French biscuits. I dread to think how out of date it all is.

Bit OT but Spices of India do the MDH spice mixes/masalas too and I can highly recommend these, they contain no MSG, preservatives or colourings unlike other brands (even the tandoori one!) and they taste lovely and authentic, a box also lasts for absolutely ages as the spice blends are really concentrated xx

Thanks to couponing and the various deals highlighted on MSE including RTC's and now Approved Foods my stockpile is getting a bit out of hand! My husband is in the middle of building me some shelving for our cellar as my cupboards are jammed.
    Looking for a fresh start

I only stockpile two things - chicken breast when on special offer and wine! When we go to France on holiday we bring back 3 bottles per week drinking and 1 for donating ..... for the year:beer:
  • I also hoard Kallo Organic Stock Cubes in Chicken, Beef, and Heinz Baby Vegetable Stock Cubes 'cos they are so good and only Stock Cubes that do the Vegetable Stock well!!!!!!!!!!
(example of WBQMS strategic cheekiness MSE!!!!).

  • I buy Pasta De Cecco or other reputable decent make/brand in bulk, several packets at a time. So I always have it in stock and can have a Pasta meal anytime that I know I will enjoy.(no soggy or no flavour/texture issues). That way I enjoy it making it easier to adopt cheapo/cheaper path!!
I also stock up on salted butter and or unsalted x4 I can't stand being without butter as I depend on it to give my cooking flavour, another thing I do to money save. I also like to have good light decent olive oil in stock so I don't become too butter reliant!

  • I certainly don't want MSG in my Spices and will look up Spices of India as another weapon in my culinary armoury.

dasophster - thanks, will look at those on the website. My mother tasted my Brooke Bond Taj Mahal tea (no 1 tea in India) from Spices of India and liked it so much she bought £35 worth to add to her groaning cupboards !

teapackets - as a teenager I would go to South of France with my parents and they would drive back with boot full of wine and soupe de poissons - got a few odd looks from HM Customs for that !

WBQMS - I tend to stockpile the Kallo organic low salt stock cubes just when I see them as can't get everywhere and agree that they are really good. I actually forgot that I have a minimum of about eight blocks of President unsalted butter in my freezer, which I buy whenever I see it at a decent price as OH won't now eat anything else.

Then there's the Gressingham duck leg freezer stash from Morrisons and Waitrose and the British veal mince freezer stash from Waitrose.
  • @Edwardia Sounds good! I love Veal and would buy Waitrose Rose Veal without hesitation and stock it up. Ditto Kallo the only stock cube I use and trust preferably with a hefty reduction.

  • @vfm4meplse I don't know how you do it! You seem well sussed.
I would try the Challenge but with Riverford doing the honours.
