If you have The Works near you I noticed that they had the Gill Holcombe one at a much reduced price last week

Jackie-w Sorry to come in on your thread as it were but I just wanted to say thanks for all the great recommendations :T I have a few of them (Marguerite Patten & Delia) and have ordered another 4 from the library to see what I think before I buy :money::D
jennet1 Who is the author of 'More with Less' please?0 -
I've just ordered Darina Allen's Ballymaloe Cookery Course for my friend - but hoping to have a good look through it before I wrap it up! It's an big book & hopefully covers most things. There are some very positive reviews on Amazon but it's only £9.99 on The Book People website :money:. Does anyone here have the book as I'd like some OS views on it, pretty please?0

This is a really useful thread - thanks OP.
When I want to buy a book I always check out Book Butler as it searches about 100 bookshops and displays cheapest first (including p&p).
As an example, I put in The Pauper's Cookbook and Alibris were offering it at £4.87 whereas Amazon's price is £5.85. Just bear in mind that some offers are for 'used' but not in this particular case.

Bit of a different suggestion here: The New Curry Secret by Kris Dhillon. I recently borrowed it from the library and it has utterly transformed my Indian cooking. If you're quite OS anyway you may already know a lot of the basics of Western cooking, so if you do like curry then a book like this might be good. It's very OS - everything from scratch, but also delicious!0
