Cook books!
I'm a big Jamie fan & I love Economy Gastronomy.
Like Delia & Good Housekeeping too.
Fancy a river cottage one.
Anyone care to recommend one?0 -
Meat!!! best book ever, . although RC everyday good too...
However-from your prev posts I know you don't like fat or butter or sugar because of slimming world-so maybe HFW not for you-its all real fats and sugars, no subs iykwim?0 -
Yes! River Cottage Everyday. This is the very newest one and I have cooked at least a dozen recipes from it already.
I have them all and they are all worth reading but Everyday is the most useful.
The River Cottage Family Cookbook is also an excellent all round cookbook.0 -

I haven't looked at the Meat one but I bought Everyday the other week and it is fantastic: the sort of cookbook that replaces several ones you already had. I don't regret it (and I am looking forward to trying the honey cake using wholemeal flour). But low fat it ain't.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000

You could always go into your nearest town and take a look in a bookshop. I'm not suggesting you BUY it there, but it will give you chance to look through them and see whether they are for you or not.
It's not often you will see HFW in charity shops, but you can never tell. Then there's Ebay and Amazon marketplace. Some towns also have cut-price bookshops or market stalls selling books whch were over-stocked etc. and are at half cover price or less. I got several good books that way when I worked in the City of London.
We'e got the River Cottage, the Meat and the Fish book. I think we use the Meat book the most, but all are good.
You might also like to look out for Fergus Henderson, Richard Olney, Alastair Little and Nigel Slater, and the queen of them all, Elizabeth David.0
