Thanks for the sarcasm, but I asked for the opinion of my fellow OSers on the best River Cottage cookbook - last time I looked thats what this board was about:rolleyes:

Thats why I went to the trouble of telling them the sort of cookbooks I liked:rolleyes:

Come on, what is wrong with asking for a book recommendation? Lots of us on this board love cookbooks and frequently mention them -I know I do. The OS board is an excellent place to get cookbook recommendations;)

Mrs E I've been banging on about River Cottage Everyday on the daily thread for the last couple of weeks if you feel up to trawling through the posts. I also wrote a review of it on Amazon under the name of Getoka. I must warn you that it isn't particularly Slimming World friendly, but I'm sure you can work out which recipes would be OK and which you can adapt.

I'm planning on making the gingerbread from it today (for my kids you understand:o:D)

Thats the one that caught my eye:D

Plus my libary never has up to date books, only 10+ year old ones.
You don't really get a good idea of a book flipping through it in a bookshop.

I *LOVE* how the first result in that search is... this thread!

Anyway, I have been persuaded by this to order the Everyday book from Amazon today.. Looking forward to getting it!

I too have been thinking about buying the Everyday cookbook, but have held off incase there is too much similarity to the Family cookbook (which I love) - any comparisons between the two books welcome!

I know that was a bit of a sarcastic comment but that was very clever. How did you do that? :D

River Cottage Spring has just aired here. I've never really heard of his shows or his cook books before but I was impressed. I think I would go for his everyday cookbook first.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

One or two similar recipes -off the top of my head the Family Book has a 'pear pudding cake' and the Everyday Book has an 'apple pudding cake', they both have instructions for sour dough bread and pizza. Other than that though the content is different. I would say Everyday is more recipe based then Family which has a lot of background info and food projects.

Both are worth having imo ;)

I like the river cottage programmes on the box, but being veggie I do wonder about buying the books.
Anyone tell me if its worth my while? Are there many veggie recipes in any of the books? Not MEAT obviously ! LOL!
