Yorkshire, places to go with the kids

Hi, I'm wanting to collate a file of ideas of places to go with the kids in the Yorkshire area; Leeds, Harrogate, York, Wakefield, Bradford etc. I'm trying to make the holidays as easy as possible!
I realise that there are websites that have these but think they are pretty limited and focus on paying attractions. I'm looking for family favourites, little gems that I can explore in the holidays; a walk, park, picnic place etc
So far I've come up with;
Hemsworth water park (£2)
Rowntree Park - York / free
Spofforth Castle / free
The strid - Bolton / free
Valley Gardens - Harrogate / free
Golden Acre Park - Leeds / free
Brimham rocks / NT
Shibden Hall
Swinsty Reservoir
Lightwater Valley
Newby Hall
Anyone got any little gems they can share with me?

Ooh, go to Yorkshire Sculpture Park (near Wakefield I think). It's fab and very child-friendly.

Valley Gardens is lovely, esp. if its not raining! There is also crazy golf to play for a small charge.
Knarseborough (couple of miles from Harrogate) has Mother Shiptons Cave which is great for kids, take a picnic and sit by the river. I remember there being a small charge though. You can also explore the castle grounds and take a little row boat out for an hour. Lots of water side cafes/picnis areas.
Ripley castle and gardens, and opposite is the famous ripley ice cream shop.
I'll think of some more and let you know

Lotherton Hall in Leeds it has a lovely bird garden and park, it's free if you don't want to go into the house but you pay for parking.
Temple Newsam, it is about £3 into the farm has a lovely park. Again you need to pay into the house, if you park at the opposite end of the house (go down the long road and turn left at the end) the parking is free. For some reason you get charged for the car park near the house.0 -
Aysgarth Falls is nice too, if it's a warm day you can have a picnic, paddle in a couple of the falls and explore the little beachy bit.
The deer park in Ripon is lovely to go to too.
Tropical World
You could go to Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds, the actual museum you need to pay into but the monastery ruins you can walk around and explore free of charge and there is also a big area of grass for picnics/playing etc as well as a park. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
