Got loads and loads of lovely sandwiches, pasta salads etc today from waitrose all reduced from between 69-89p (original price around the £2.50 mark). BBFC sometimes waitrose are stopping selling a certain item or its changing its packaging or something; about a week ago they had most varieties of Nivea spray and roll-on deodorant and some of Sure all reduced to between 49p and 99p, unfortunately I seemed to have missed most of it but I got 2 nivea deodorants for 49p when they are originally £2 something. When I looked on the shelf where they usually were they have stopped selling most Nivea roll-ons and some of the sprays and the same goes for some of the Sure range, looked on MyS as well and saw the same thing xx0

I have complained for months that my local Morrisons don't have any good reductions, because they started reducing stuff early in the day a few pence at a time.
I had a day off today, normally work 10-4 so don't get to the shops on a Sunday, and went to Morrisons at 3.30. There was a about 12 people at the reductions chiller and one young lad doing the reductions. I couldn't get near enough to see what was being reduced, so passed it by.
Went to the in-store bakery and there were only two items left, packs of 2 meat and potato pies normally £1.60 reduced to 9p. So I grabbed them both.
I hung around for 15 minutes, hoping the crowd round the reductions chiller would get smaller, but it didn't. So I went to the checkout and the woman in front of me had a conveyor belt full of items reduced to 9p. She filled a rucksack and two carrier bags with them!
She must of had a fortnights shopping for a family of 4, and every item was 9p. There were 200g packs of bacon, £4 packs of pork chops, a piece of fresh cod that was originally £2.99, packs of chicken breasts and a pack of finest chicken breasts in white wine sauce, and dozens of other stuff.
I paid for my 2 packs of pies and packet of salted peanuts while she was finishing off packing her rucksack. As I followed her out of the shop I thought to myself "If she's not wearing a wedding ring, I'll propose to her".
Unfortunately, when she got outside she turned in the opposite direction to me, so I never got so see her left hand.0 -
At my local Waitrose I bought 2 packs of picnic eggs reduced to 45p and got 80p back as they were in multibuy. I also got 2 packs of mackerel pate for 19p each. They were buy 2 save £1, so they gave me 62p to take them away!0

There used to be a huge problem with people of a certain (obviously not to be mentioned here) ethnicity every single day in Sainsbury's Greenwich when I worked there. They would come in as a family regular as clockwork at the same time each day prior to the time reductions were usually made. Only, instead of waiting for the reductions to be made, they would search the shelves first to find the items with that day's date to pile into their trollies. Then they would wait around until the poor staff member came around in order to do the reductions and accost him and thrust each item from their trollies under his nose, pointing at the date and demanding their reductions.
It was close to an organised crime and happened so often that in the end I saw the store manager intervene and have a fight with them and tell them they had no right to reductions as the store could choose to do what they wanted to do with the out-of-date items. It was a very unpleasant scenario.0 -
Well, my local Tesco has a reduced counter packed high with great stuff.... at VERY little off the full price. So there is never people fighting to get at it :rotfl:
I thought maybe I was just going too early in the day, so made a point of waiting until after 5 in the evening on my recent shopping trip.
As I approaced the chiller I seen it was still packed high, so got a wee buzz of excitement at the bargains that were sure to be had... still only 20% off! Maybe the further reductions are made really late at night, I hate to think of all that food going to waste.-- Quit smoking 27/8/12  --0 -
My tesco is always packed high and little off the prices aswell but they still crowd around I can't even get to the reduced. They don't crowd around the reduced bread part so that's one good thing.I remember before the credit crunch I only used to be the one at the reduced fridge quite alot of the time.Going to have to go at night when people are watching the soaps.Been at 9pm before but only self service tills are open then I HATE THEM. Food alot cheaper at that time might have to go.Less stress and no rugby scrum to get in reduced ha ha.0

Always the occasional poster looking to make themselves look better by accusing others of racism just because they mention someone's race.
Well I'm not an occasional poster, and I felt the repeated reference to race was unneeded. Would the ethnicity have been worthy of note had the shoppers been caucasian?
Regardless, I'm sure the MSE team will decide for themselves if the post is acceptable or not, us arguing the toss will not resolve anything. On the up
