Orthodontics needs regular appointments every few weeks over a 2-3 yr period.

Might get a bit inconvienient popping over to Poland that often.

I would concentrate more on getting it done well than cheaply. You need them for a fair old while yet.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I thought id put 'dental' into the title so as not to confuse you all with overweight people. Now i cant identify with the English 'money savers' or 'MSE's on waiting times for dentists etc because when i want an appointment i get it within a week.Service is great.Prices aint too bad either.NHS dentist too...apparantly.So i can assume the problems people have signing on with private practices and finding NHS dentists is a southern thing.
Ive been thinking of getting braces for a while now.Have an idea its gonna cost in the region of 2 grand.Me being me im never gonnna part with that kinda money right away,id like to pay it up. So if someone could give me an idea how i go about bringing the subject up with the dental woman who does my teeth, for instance do they look at my teeth,do they send me somewhere else.Does it cost money.Do dentists vary.Or is braces a set price.
Ive searched these forums and seen people whos biggest problem especially when their not young (im in my 20s) is that their worried about what people will think.Incase they look stupid or ugly. Its the furthest thing from my mind.Im really keen on this and i could care less what people think.
Ive got a gap between my 2 front teeth and the bottom 4 teeth underneath have small gaps and are a little uneven. With the gum thing ive heard its called a ' web ' and that basically stops the 2 teeth closing.Ive also heard theres a procedure where they cut that away and then use bands to close the teeth then glue a piece of metal behind the teeth making sure they dont separate. Its all bit home DIY to me.Id rather it was done properly.

So with what ive asked and what ive told you can anyone give me a guidline on a) price............im willing to wear the traintracks lol
    b) paying on installments.......can you pay what you can afford?
    c) how long will i need to wear them based on my teeth description?
    d) i have one tooth taken out at the back on the top row, will that affect me getting braces?

Also im currently out of work at the moment so id rather take a trip to the dentist while i dont have to pay for any treatment.

So please people, advise me with your wisdom.

I have no idea of how the system works in Scotland, but I think you should speak with your current dentist.
Usually you have to be referred to an Orthodontist.
They would then be able to give you an idea of what is possible and the options for having it done.

    Good luck.

An orthodonist is a dental specialist who deals with braces etc.
Usually, if you need a tooth removing to make space for the others to move, then the Orthodontist will refer you back to your dentist to have this done.

I see from your first post that you have a dentist, just discuss it with them at your next visit and they will be able to refer you.
You may need to be up to date with all treatments and also have good dental hygiene before they will refer you.

Well ive only ever had one tooth removed.Which is second from the back on the top right.I thought they put something in your gum to try and replicate a tooth being there.I cant remember what they call it.I think i may need some fillings.I never knew you might need to lose teeth in order to have braces.

It depends upon why you need the braces  and if there is enough space available for the teeth you have.
Personally, I needed to have 2 teeth removed.
But everyone is different, first step then is to make an appointment to see your dentist and take it from there.

Hmm well i need them to improve my smile.Plus i like the way my fangs are really sharp and angled and the way the surrounding teeth are shaped.More of a confidence and personality thing for me.Do you have any idea how much they charge per month if you have a choice to pay it up?

No idea as to cost, each mouth is individual....from what I have read on here, most Orthodontists will accept payment as you go, rather than an upfront chage.
