  • Fair play to Martin & the team. It just goes to show what can be achieved with such a basic idea and self-belief.

No-one knows what will happen in the future and people like to moan about anything - remember when the forum was tweaked? Everyone moaned for a day and then forgot how it used to look.

I, for one, am happy for Martin & his team. Well done.

I hope the Office of Fair Trading doesn't give clearance for this.

Congratulations to Martin for becoming a multimillionaire in the middle of a recession. It is difficult enough when the economy is booming but to do it when all around you people are struggling takes some feat. Must of had a word with George Osborne yesterday to get the charity cap removed just in time for the £10 million charity donation, cleverly put through a trust fund.
Maybe make a donation to the Spanish banks as the bankers need bailing out again and the bankers must surely be struggling this week. Let the rich get richer and screw the poor.

How many of the so-called 'unique users' are actually AEs?

    Why?

    What are your objections?

  • Although I feel this is a shame and I wish the current MSE would stay as is until I leave for another dimension, you have to hand it to Martin and respect his decision, after all he's a business man and a very good one at that. He's not a saint, sent here to help us for eternity.

If MSE changes for the worse then people with leave and another site, setup by other experts will emerge and we will all gradually move over there. But keep in mind that any new site will also have it's own agenda and will be trying to emulate that of MSE and eventually sell at a high price.

I congratulate Martin. Well done that man and respect for the 10m donation to charity...not many would do that.

    Manic.

another unhappy forumite here. Had to check the date to see if it was April 1st rather than June.
The best part of MSE was it's complete independance and now it's just sold that for a pretty penny.
I really liked Martin but now I see him for the money grabbing expert that he is

While my heart sinks slightly thinking of how the commercial aspect is inevitably going to kick in - I don't begrudge Martin his dividends. I suspect no one here has any idea how much time he's devoted to the site - it's been his life for the past 7 odd years and I doubt he's had much free time to spare.

We've had the most excellent free advice and support where none existed. He must have saved us millions collectively. And not only that he's promoted ways of earning money too.

I don't believe he'll dump us all quite so quickly. I hope not anyway.
