Just a quick question. I dont have much soap powder left, however, I have soda crystals. So, would you just use the soda crystals until you really really needed to go to the shop, or, would you just go and buy soap powder anyway.

Ive never used soda crystals to wash the clothes before. Do you need to add anything else to them?

    Jackie

There was a thread about making soap powder go futher :o Sorry cant find the link

Basically, it said if you mix your branded soap powder that you like the smell of, with a value powder and soda crystals. Just use equal quantities of each.

BigMummaF... sorry to hear about your loss... We will be here when you are ready to come back (((HUGS)))

Just popping in to send condolances to BMF and family. Sorry to hear your news.

Edited in: I've now updated my sig to reflect the non-grocery purchases that I have included in this month's grocery budget as I think they qualify:

Icing Kit (new) for piping the potato onto the cottage pies
Timer for use on the slow cooker (new) to stop me burning the porrage & rice pudding
Microwave cookery book (secondhand from charity auctions) to save on cooking time/electricity

Total for all of the above was £7.78 including postage & packaging, all bought from eBid online auctions, all needed and all, I think, relevant to groceries and food :)
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Just a quick Hi...may not complete this month's challenge.

My BIL passed this morning, & just now saving a penny or two isn't high on my list of priorities.

I wish you all well tho, & will hopefully change my mind several times over the next few weeks. Just wanted to let you know if I don't get round to updating my sigs.

    Cheers then.BMFx

I've got an American Cookie cookbook that I've had for about 10 years and NEVER used it. I found it the other day and remembered why. Although I understand the cup measurements (I have a set of these) I don't know how much a stick of butter is in imperial or metric terms. Does this mean one pack of butter? If so this does seem a lot to me.

Can anyone help with this for me. My children are desparate to make some of the cookies in the book, and so am I :p .

    Thanks in advance xx
