Ho Hum.....went to the discount place for a few bits......£21 worth! But that included 300 Typhoo bags, 2lt milk & 3 bags of sugar:o Mr T wasn't playing many tunes to make me dance either, with offers on snacks & bikkies that I refuse to buy cuz I'm trying to get us healthy
I could have saved a fortune otherwise:D
I've noted that a good few of yooze with tiddlers are buying wet wipes.....none of my business of course, but I only ever used them if we were out somewhere, where it would be difficult to get warm water. My three have survived with lovely botties that were cleansed using the minimal amount of cotton wool & little bowl of warm water. I found the cotton wool pleats offered the best option cuz it's perforated so you can easily control the amount you use, & it was easy to 'split' so you get a thinner piece to wipe with IYSWIM. Also a damp flannel in a little plastic bag was ideal for sticky fingers & wiping faces.
Likewise, the bread bags were handy for transporting terry nappies, or disposing of disposables & now come in as doggy-do bags:p I only ever use the scented nappy sacks for me during the 'lurgy', so a box lasts me a good few months.

and helllooooooooooo february!
month of my birthday yknow.
and that's why i'm completely ignoring spending £4 this morning on a bacon roll and a fruit smoothy, and not putting it on the list. so there.
feeling quite optimistic about this month... think between us we can all save ourselves a lot of money, improve a bit of health, and probably help the environment a little too.
let's go!
ps, i know you've all been in february for a while, but i waited for the rest of the world (and payday) to arrive with me.Trying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:0 -

Moneypenny-i like that idea of a notebook, might try that myself. This month i'm going to draw all my budget money out and put it in a jar and not use my card at all this time round.:cool:On a mission0 -
went for my first feb shop yesterday and spent £36 which means if I stick to my £50 target Ive only got £14 left ,which doesnt seem much but Ive got quite a few different things to make meals with ,so I only need to buy a few bits of fruit /veg through the week and flour for the breadmaker and a few things for packing up .
dont know if I,ll manage but Ill certainly give it a good go.0 -
First big shop today, so it makes me a bit nervous. I mostly stuck to the list, but I did add a few things that I wasn't planning on buying til NEXT shop, however, they were on sale. I suppose that means I'm spending now to save later, as they won't be on sale during the next big shop. And it was all either nonperishable or freezer stuff so it'll keep. I find that I'm pretty good about it if I stick to my list, but I always keep an eye on sales for substitutes. It's surprising how quickly it adds up. Anytime I looked at something not on the list, I kept reminding myself "do we REALLY need that?" and it did help a lot.
I've been reading the site some and was especially interested in the Tesco auto-checkouts and using coupons for items you haven't bought that Tesco still sells. Our big store doesn't have those, but there's a medium sized store that does. I may go in there when I'm ready to top up milk, fruit, and veg and use coupons then. Can't hurt if it works and their policy says it's okay, so I don't feel guilty about it. I don't want to use the coupons at the regular register, as I get a bit crabby when snipped at by check out people and would rather avoid that.
At the moment, grocery stores (including the one DH works at) are a good 20 minute drive from us, so I can't justify going in the evening for the markdowns. Maybe after we move, as we'll then be closer to the store.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -

I've worked out it should be doable, :j

Barclaycard was £250.00 now £190. 00
Asda credit card was £500.00 now £0.00:j

Even Sunnyday has week 1 in Feb filled in so far, how comes? I thought the Feb challenge starts on the 1st of each month
Please don't tell me i'm starting at the wrong day
It is a bit confusing isnt it, you will find some people start the challenge on the 15th of each month as thats their pay day. I get my money fortnightly, but I still run to the calendar month as its easier for me to work out when I'm doing my tally ups! As Carolt already said, its up to you when you run your month, whatever's easiest for you
Welcome Strawberry laces and all other newbies!!

well done my first shop of this month £27.63 in Tesco. I would hope not to spend on anything but bread and milk now.....am I kidding myself on? I really have to try hard this time as I have a £422 gas bill this month ....dont ask. Bought my meat for sandwiches for work, now just have to disipline myself to get them made up in the morning to take with me, also to take my own teabags and avoid the machine. I,m trying to talk myself into taking the train in the morning thus saving fiver a week but the times are not good and I can have an extra 15 mins in bed if I take the bus. In the winter I think this is a good deal.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o
