  • Can I join please? I feel very wasteful compared to some people on here but I'm going to aim for £100, that's to feed just me!!! I have no idea how much I spend but I need to cut back a bit.
    Thanks :-)

Thank you Carolt2 for finding the hobnobs recipe. I made a batch this afternoon and they are DELICIOUS! My Dad came round just as they were coming out of the oven and tried one. Then he took four home for him and my Mum! Several have gone into packed lunches for tom and the rest have gone in the freezer as they are so addictive! I'll definitely be making them again.

Also, thanks for the recommendation to go on the MySupermarket website for the shopping list. I will definitely give it a go before Sunday when I plan to do a much needed food shop.

I popped into Tesco Axminster again today and STILL there were no Free Range chickens. So I went to the nearby farm shop and they had loads. Got us a nice big one for Sunday and planning to try and make a pie and possibly a third meal out of it if possible to justify the extra cost.

I paid for my goods in tesco on the self scan machine and interestingly I scanned a voucher that I found in my purse for 30p off something that I didn't buy. The machine accepted it so from now on I shall be cutting out coupons to use there.

    :j Happy saving everyone.

I'm in again this month....kinda lost track in January as have been ill & have returned to work....taken me a while to get myself sorted!!

    My month started on 23/1/08 and lasts until 26/2/08 - 5 weeks:eek:

My target for the month Lil-me is £400. However, due to opting for easier meals (when feeling SO rough), and the fact that I'm already a week in - I've spent £107.80:eek: . Therefore have £292.20 left:rolleyes:

Am hoping to delay my weekly tesco shop a few days, as we've got lots in - so hoping not to spend anything other than on bread/milk until the start of next week! Wish me luck:D

P.S Is there a way where you can catch up on a thread without having to go back to the beginning, and trawl all through the pages to find out which one you last read? Im finding that if I cant come back onto the forums for a couple of days, I forget which page was the last one I read, and I end up having to read through alot of the pages again.

    Hi Jackie
I've just discovered today a little button at the top left corner of the page, just under the 'post reply' button, it says 'view first unread' and if you click on it you go straight to where you want to be. I can't believe how much time I've
been wasting trawling through the pages to find where I last got to!

    Hi folks,

Looks like people have done well for January. I have just tallied up for January and the grand total is 103.17 out of a somewhat generous budjet of 180quid (Used to spend 200-250 per month!). Having said that my real spend in way should be around 140 quid as I am sure I consumed 40quids worth of left over xmas goodies. Thats £4.50 per day so I have set Febs budget at 120quid at £4 per day so I am turning the screw a little tighter for the new month!!!!

I have just updated my sig and I have allocated a portion of my weekly shop for Feb already.

Hope all goes well for Feb.

    Jools

PS Still have not got myself a Slow Cooker yet!!!

  • Thanks to everyone that answered my question about being over-charged in Tesco. I got a refund of double the difference today, so in effect free coffee!

I spent £6.27 in Tesco this morning and later £7.59 mostly on lunch things to see us through next week.

  • God I'm so embarrassed to be posting up my ridiculous shopping bill but I spent over £600 this January. There is just me, husband and two boys (4 and 1 - big eaters but not that big!):o
I've shopped in various places (Waitrose, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Tesco) but never seem to get it down! I will say that this month was more than usual as we had lots of family over. We're both Irish so we have visitors that stay over for several days. Usually it's around £400 - but that's still terrible compared to some of you here - OldMacdonald how do you do it with so many children! You'd think I'd learn from being part of a big Irish family (who were by no means well-off and were never in debt) but I'm hopeless....
But I'm determined to to do better this month. Nearest supermarkets are Waitrose and Sainsburys but I do use the self-scanner in Waitrose so I'm actually much more disciplined there. I'm going to check out where the nearest Aldi is as my sister swears by it and she's doing great - however, she doesn't have children...
    Anyway,
LI'L ME Can I join the challenge with £300 for this month please!!!
I know it's a bit of a drastic cut for me but honestly I need a good shaking up. If I make less than £350 this month I'll be happy.

Out goes the Tropicana orange juice I suppose....:p
