Car scraped in car park

The OP has explained her feelings over this in the OP, (and accepts it is an 8 year old car), people have tried to help her resolve the matter the way she wants to.!
She clearly doesn't want to put up with something she is not responsible for - plus the miscreant desreves to be traced and sorted - could your or my car that gets hit next time by the hit and run merchant!0 -
Bear in mind you can get a whole panel resprayed for about £70 from a mobile repairer.
I'd get it done and just invoice the woman.0 -
But its damage to the bumper, although have just read its a paint bumper and not the plastic type - therefore its most likely that a bottle of T-cut would fix it - so go buy a bottle of T-cut, or ask a local garage to do - it will not be expensive!
They should accept it becasue it is better for them (As involving the insurance is only going to put their own premium up too.)
And the damage is most likely easily sorted, without much expense if the OP is so inclined0 -
Why should the OP just accept it?
Someone has damaged their car and driven off. As they got out to look it proves that they knew damn fine they had done it. It won't just rub off as it's stripped down to the plastic.
Too many people in this country don't stand up for themselves.
Quite right, I have polish and would quite happily T-cut it out IF the paint hadn't been totally stripped away, a quick fix with t-cut if deff not an option.Doesn't matter how old the car is.
I had a 20 year old Vauxhall which I washed and polished religiously. The old think looked cracking.
Someone whacks it in a carpark and takes the paint off my bumper, gets out, looks, then drives away.....
I'd be going after them.
Suppose it's just a question of how much it bothers you.
I now have a 2005 Fiesta with more hits than the beatles. If someone hit that in a carpark I probably wouldn't even notice.
Thank you - I purchased the car when it was 2yrs old and have looked after it religiously since. Some might think this is OTT and they are entitled to their opinion, but it's the most expensive thing I have ever purchased and whilst is has a few tiny marks from people opening car doors against it my personal opinion is that I haven't paid good money (or any money) not to look after something.
Anyway, quick update for those who are interested. I spoke to my insurance company today who were quite happy to take the other cars reg from me and proceed to claim through their insurance company....turns out one major issue there....the other vehicle doesn't appear to be insured.
So, my current two choices are to claim through insurance (excess and higher premium) or pay to have it repaired myself (getting a quote next week from the company who fixed my alloys when I eh'hem...curbed on ... ok I'm not a perfect driver either but to date I haven't hit anyone and just driven off)
However, police have now been involved due to the non-insurance issue which has really annoyed me. I'm a law abiding citizen, pay my insurance and looks like I'll have to pay to have someone elses damaged fixed because they think the law doesn't apply to them so drive without insurance. :mad:Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

A third option is to have the damage repaired yourself and then sue the woman via the small claims court. You'd need to make sure she has the means to pay.
That way you wouldn't need to make a claim on your insurance, though they will have logged this event as an "incident" which unfortunately will probably lead to a premium increase in future years.
I've seen posts on here where the non-fault party asks the at-fault party for a payment in respect of the increased premiums as a result of having a non-fault incident/claim on their insurance history. Not sure how this would work, perhaps someone else could advise.0 -

The police shouldn't be testing whether someone is "soft enough" to be fobbed off. They should do the job properly the first time round. Thankfully there are many excellent police officers who do this.
The ones that don't are usually the types who are on first name terms with their "fed reps" and blame "the cuts" in an attempt to excuse their poor performance0 -

I agree, strider talks the talk from his keyboard but can't do it in real life. He let some lazy plod walk all over him.0 -
There are lazy police, as in every other job, so use the system as you would every where else. Escalate it, get them noticed.0

There is a third option open to you.
You can use the MIB untraced/uninsured driver scheme to claim from, rather than making a claim off your insurer, thereby retaining your NCD.0
