Police Office Abusing his power and position

  • I read all the above with interest. The problem in this scenario is, that if the officer involved receives information, then, he is duty bound to act on it even if it is malicious as long as he does not know its malicious that is. Failure to act can even get the officer in trouble. This is an area where police and other agencies struggle with the "they are damned if they do and they are damned if they dont". However, if your friend has the name and details of the officer and he was one of the officers on the raid then he will have a supervisor that can be contacted. The details of all officers involved is left on a copy of the warrant as well as some detail of where the supervisory officer can be contacted.

Stop keeping caches of knives / doing other stuff that society finds objectionable?

Someone needs to lay off the tabloids for a while because everyone has a cache of knives,it's called a cutlery drawer.

As far as I know there aren't any knives knifes that are illegal to posses unless they were looking for evidence to say he imported or trying to sell them.

I suspect the knives the police were concerned with were not cutlery...

Probably not. But some of my kitchen knives could gut you from top to tail (not that I'd do that, obv. I'm not demented!).

Well yes I agree. Lots of household items can be used as a weapon. However I suspect that the police would only take knives that didn't appear to have any genuine household use to them. I would be intrigued to know what sort of knives these were. I doubt they would just take some kitchen knives as there is nothing suspicious about a kitchen knife found in a kitchen :)

Ok...... Anyway if someone wanted to have a trunk full of knives it's still not a police issue unless there's been some other crime that goes along with it.

Not sure about that. I think if the police are searching a house and find a trunkload of combat knives then it does become a police issue. It at least warrants further investigations!
