Child unwell at school and no one noticed

My daughter felt ill at school and they actually took her temperature at school, and then called because it was high and said she needed to go home, so I would have expected them to notice your daughter was ill and check, particularly knowing she can have fits when she has a high temperature.Grocery challenge July £250

Definitely worth letting school know your feelings - especially the teacher - if nothing else it might make them pay a little more attention to your child in the future0

Mum didn't see any reason to keep her little one off school. I'm sure mum would have noticed if she'd been unwell.
Little one told her teacher and class room assistant that she felt poorly. They told her to sit in the quiet corner, more than likely because she seemed ok.
By the time mum picked little one up she was upset and when mum and little one got home she'd developed a temperature
I fail to see why mum feels she should go to the school and make a complaint.
Do you have something against parents? Where did I say u felt I SHOULD go to school and make a complaint? My post was asking for opinions and help, 99.9% of responses have been really helpful and im very grateful.
Children can deteriorate quickly but not that quickly.
She was asleep within minutes of leaving school and her temperature was 40 within minutes of getting home.
Have you ever experienced a child fitting? With your response I would think not and for your sake, I hope you never do. As a nurse myself, to see my own child fit is one of the worst things to have seen, you are useless and there is nothing you can do. Except i can try to PREVENT it from happening in the first place which is where the issue lies.0 -
Nah she's just trolling -she has a history of it-Take no notice !I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

In response:
Yes I am a mum and a grandmother.
Yes I have seen my child have fits.
Yes I have sent my kid to school healthy and picked them up later and they have been unwell with a raging temperature.
Yes I have watched my daughter go through the recuperation of operations and felt helpless.
Yes I have felt terrible guilt when picking them up from school as they were clearly unwell despite being ok when I dropped them off.
Yes I do know what 'duty of care' means.I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -

Well if you have see all that then why are you criticising the OP then instead of offering kind advice??0 -

LOL Been there.
However, I would have told the parents that I didn't know why the child wasn't sent home as it was X who made the decision and it might shed more light on the situation to speak to her...
Less professional, certainly, but I'd happily take the fall for anyone who was trying their best to do the right thing. Not for someone like that though.Just because it says so in the Mail, doesn't make it true.
I've got ADHD. You can ask me about it but I may not remember to answer...0 -

Because I don't feel the need to assuage mum's feelings.
Nor do I subscribe to the attitude of most posters on this thread that the teacher was at fault.I'm not that way reclined

So what your saying is that if the child had a fit it still wouldn't be the teachers fault for not ringing her mum to come and collect her??
I'm so glad that you wasn't my teacher.
Being a parent yourself you should know how it feels to put the trust in someone else to look after your child while you work. You should know how it is to have a child that can be potentially very unwell. Where is your compassion???
If something happened to the child whilst in the care of school they are the ones to blame for not taking care of the child.
I really don't understand your attitude considering you have been through something similar yourself.0 -
The reason I would have approached the office first is because in my DDs school the teachers are so busy preparing for the day I would not be able to speak to them at length before school. However the ladies in the school office are very good and I could reliably pass on any concerns through them.0
