Determined this is my last debt diary

Hi all,
I have been around since 2006 and just can't seem to get under 15k. I always hover between 15-18k. I am so sick of having the debt and although a lot of it is at 0% I am determined to kick its !!! this time around.
I have a few bits and pieces of cashback due to me so as soon as they land in my account I will use them to pay off some of the debt. I have no idea how long it will take, but if I go for an optimistic 18 months (£1000 per month) then I aim to be debt free by Dec 2013.
My DS is due to start school in Sept 14, so it would be nice to debt free a while before he starts.
And so the journey begins. Again.........

Thanks guys
It's great to have some encouragement.
This month i resisted the urge to book a family holiday. Normally I would, but put my sensible hat on and didn't. Very proud of this.
Also got a notification from Inland Revenue that I am due tax back from 2005-2007 in the region of £1,100 so will be paying that off my RBS card to clear it asap.
I was toying with the idea of paying if off my mortgage but it is a false economy as I really need to just get rid of the debts. I have been in debt now for 10 years. Enough is enough.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi CMD!
Happy new diary! _party_
You seem to know exactly what you want to do now, clear the debt in 18 months and be forever rid of it. You can do it!
£1000 is quite a lot a month, is this a realistic target? (Probably is, it's just almost half of my montly wages..:p)
Well done on not booking a family holiday. Year and a half really isn't that long and then you can guilt free book family holidays so I think you've done really well there.
Ooh, that's brilliant news on tax back, straight away you can pay one card off. I think this is definitely a sign that this is your time to clear the debt once and for all!
Good luck on your last bit of a journey! *subscribes*DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -

The £1000 a month is probably not very realistic, but I am due some back money from the childrens allowance etc, so would hope to be under £15k before September. Then I will plug away at it as best I can.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi Clearmydebts,
You're doing great already. It's great you're getting that money back - lump sums really make a difference.
Good luck with it.
I like your name! I chose mine because it's the end goal of how I want to feel when I make that last payment!0 -
I was reading through my last diary from 2010/2011 last night. It was hard to read in parts, as I really was very down for a lot of it. Thankfully, now I am in a better place and feel more able to deal with my debts once and for all.
OH is still commuting back and forth but has asked to work from home 1-2 days more a week (this is under review) and we only have 10 months left in our mortgage with a really high rate. I'm not sure if we will be able to remortgage due to debts and a low LTV but even still, the rate will drop and it looks like we will have £100 less to pay per month.
I have a job that I am really enjoying, and means I can pretty much be at home with the babies most of the day and then work/go out in the evenings. It is only contracted until mid-Sept but I am hoping that they will be able to keep me on. Worse case scenario might be that I am let go until March 2013 and then taken back on again. Fingers crossed anyway.
I was going to send DS (27 months now) to playschool a couple of mornings a week in Sep but have decided not to. I don't think hr is 'emotionally' ready for it. Intellectually, definitely, but he feels too little yet. I will review it in December, as he really needs to get used to it a few mornings a week before going 5 mornings a week in Sep 2013. He is very sociable and we go to a mother & toddler 2 mornings a week, plus go on outings the rest of the week, so he defo sees enough of children that age.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
