now your original complaint has been resolved why do you feel the need to argue the point of 'lost', I would love to get a transcript of that first call to see what was said. I wonder if you said you had lost them... or temporally mis-placed your keys?

It is the principal. If they want to "play by the rules" and in effect try to con me then they have to realise that the rules do not make any sense. This was a downright attempt to mislead me.

I know what was said in the original call (they in fact repeated it back to me this week) and it went along the lines of my wife has lost her keys. As I pointed out to the insurers the other day when they told me what I "said" in that call, what I said, and what actually happened could be two different things - wow - I got it wrong! That should not incriminate me - I did not realise I was "under oath" at the time and I called them back to correct myself, but in their eyes, but then it was too late.

Having had time to consider the situation, and with all the facts in front of me, it turns out the keys were not lost (at least not in the sense of any none existent definition in the Terms).

As for copying my keys - well that is impossible as I have security protected keys that cannot be copied without a code and printed card - so that argument (in my case at least), is out the window. With a modern car it is also impossible as the fob transponder cannot be copied in the majority of cars now. Generally, if a thief takes your handbag, he just wants cash and cards, he certainly does not want to !!!!!! around getting keys cut then returning the bag as if nothing has happened to break in at a later date. You have been watching too many James Bond movies.

Yes, next time I call the conversation will go along the lines of...

"Please note, this call is being made Without Prejudice and I do not authorise you to store any of the following information on your system without my prior approval. Should I find, at a later date, that the event has in fact occurred, I will contact you again to report it to you. I also reserve the right to call you back with further details to clarify the event (which may or may not have happened) once all the facts are known. At that time you may be authorised to store the data."

I find it amazing that so many people are becoming more and more accepting of this sort of situation. Why do you not get up off your bottoms and start shouting from the rooftops - "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take this anymore!"

Don't respond to this thread, I am not reading it again. Instead, go to YouTube and search for "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take this anymore" and watch the film that comes up as the top link.
