  • Hi all,

I`ve never done the DTD before and wanted to know if there is anywhere I can read the "rules"?
I think I found one yesterday but am not sure it would apply. It was a Phillips electric shaver and on the yellow label it said £18 but it also said that the offer expired on 19/06, when I scanned it, it showed as £36.18. Would this have qualified for DTD or does the fact that expiry date for the offer was on the label exclude it?

    Thanks

If the SEL said £18 and you pay £36.18 that is double the difference. The till sees the price and not the expiry date and it is not up to you to check the expiry date. I would buy it (if you need it) with some more shopping. Pay, head for the door, check your receipt near exit, then go back to where you got it (you have gone to check you got it right) then go to CS. They will go off to check the SEL and I strongly suggest you go with them (labels sometimes mysteriously disappear) then you should receive dtd. If they offer to re-sell it to you at the offer price, decline and behind the CS desk there is a sign saying something like 'in the event things dont add you, you will get dtd). Sometimes you may have to prompt the staff to get it.

Good Morning. Have a look at the yellow SEL labels & in very small writing you will find the date the offer expires. Sometimes the offer hasn't expired they just haven't bothered to change the label over with a new expiry date. If you find it goes through check out at offer price you can either pay for it & return it to CS a few days later for a refund or hunt through your bag & find you have forgotten your purse!!! Good luck:)

Some stores have the self scanners placed at shoulder level usually on a pillar with a blue screen and often around the clothing area, a bit smaller than a toilet hand drier. Just hold the bar code up to it.

Tesco aren't having much luck at the moment with pork.

0Xf0rd store - Shoulder joint, white SEL £3/kg but packs marked £5.49/kg. Luckily the DTD calculation was too complicated for the CS girl so she paid me 1p to take away two joints. May be nationwide as white SEL for correct product.

I picked up a Breville twin motor compact mixer today. OOD SEL offer exp 17/6/12 was £49.97 now £39.97. Charged £59.97 for it so received a £40.00 refund. so paid £19.97 for it:)
  • I got DTD on Tesco own brand washing up liquid, priced at 85p on the shelf (white ticket) but the cardboard packing boxes that the bottles were displayed in had 2 for £1.20 printed on the side. I bought 4 bottles, deal didnt go through so £2 DTD. Worth checking the packaging if your store doesnt bother to take the bottles out when filling the shelves. hope that makes sense!

I got a DTD on durecell batteries (the ones that you can check how much energy is left) priced £4.47. they were on a cardboard shelf on the corner of an isle. BOGOF was printed on the cardboard so on one side they had covered it up but not on the other.
    so its worth a try!

Didn't notice this until I was home:

Smoked Salmon for sandwiches 100g - small little square container. Special purchase price £2 according to the SEL and I was charged £3.29.

    DTD would have given me 1.29 x 2 = £2.58 making cost of 71p.
