We live across the park from DS's school. He goes next door in the mornings and meets up with the girl next door (my best friend's daughter) and another girl in his tutor group who lives just round the corner. Then the three of them walk to school together.
Some boys in his class have noticed him arriving with the two girls and are making themselves unpleasant going on about the girls being DS's girlfriends. It is bothering him to the extent that he didn't want to invite either of those two girls to his birthday party (although happy to have other girls from his tutor group) so as not to give the annoying boys more fuel for their gossip. (Party is laser tag thingy, so not effeminate!)
I am unimpressed. :mad:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Probably doesn't help that he's bright, and not bad looking....the other boys are probably a little envious of his furture potential.0

I had a Ltd company once.... won't go down that route again (for contracting). It's umbrella for me if there's a "next time".0

I don't think you should need to justify the party activity as effeminate or not. Stuff them, I say. You shouldn't be a prisoner to narrow minded jealous types.0 -

Poor DS. Sorry that he is getting bother. It did make me smile though... In a few years those silly boys will be so jealous of another boy hanging out with two girls!0 -
I don't want to divulge too much, but currently me and my sister here in UK are involved in a 'tug of war' between my mum and her partner.
She is going through terminal cancer, which is hard enough, but he is trying to be a complete control freak. How selfish does a person have to be to put their own wants over someone who just wants to spend quality time with their family in the remaining months?
Oh, on a more positive note, aren't the McMillan nurses and the other support people brilliant. They deserve all the support they can get.0 -
Kabayiri, i am sorry to hear that.
People are funny things. He is probablY terrified as well as envious and terrified. None of this makes it any better for you of course.0 -
Thanks LIR
I'm sure we will find some sort of working compromise.
One good thing, it does put life in perspective. I'll patch my car up, and keep it for yet another year. I'd rather spend time and money on some family events. Tin boxes on wheels can wait.0 -
