I am giving the UK one a miss this year but am saving my junk telly time for US X factor. Apparently it has already started and is a goody with Britney and SC.
I will record and watch on Saturdays instead.
You should try to watch the Voice USA. It's hilarious and enough man coverage for all sorts

No but it's near your old halls I think. It's a place that was revamped and probably didn't have a TV room a few years back. I was pleased to notice there's internet connections in every room.
Chewie, was there anywhere to store belongings over the hols? It took us hours to pack/unpack the car and I'd hate to have to to that at the start/end of every term. Was it difficult/common to get casual work?
They kicked me out of halls during holidays, so I had to empty the lot out- there was no storage in my halls although you could rent the room over the holiday periods if you wanted - that's a pretty expensive storage method though! When I was at uni (in the first year anyway) I could fit all of my possessions in a 50L rucksack and a suitcase though, so wasnt too tricky! All I had were clothes and books.
In terms of casual work - most people I knew worked in the union and it was pretty easy to get a job in there, good way of expanding your social circle too. Used to be pretty easy to get retail jobs as well - esp in lead up to Christmas. Plenty of bar work in central London too.
However, that was 15 years ago and during a period of strong economic growth.
Personally, I only had one job the whole time I was at uni and I got that through nepotism.0 -
I was reluctant to pay the price for 4 tickets to Tampa during half-term, but today's weather and the forecast is rapidly changing my mind......
Can I just say ... it's not raining everywhere in the UK. Dry up here in the Costa Del NorthWestioBritannia.
(Not often I get chance to mention better weather up here than in London!)0 -
Purch, have you been to the new Dali Museum since it moved? We're planning a trip and wondered what you thought. We visited its old home and liked that, but hear it's much better in the new building. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Agree. Can't see the point myself unless you are letting it out all the time to other holiday makers, and take a few free breaks yourself throughout the year.
Then it becomes more of an investment than a holiday home.0 -

I didn't really see the point of collectively owning a lakeside holiday property if I'm honest, especially one which seems to eat money.
But then when I visited my sister over in Canada, I realised everyone goes there at weekends. This is family; friends; friends of friends! If there isn't room in the house, people just pitch up a tent at the back.
I know friends who have holiday cottages in Anglesey, and the places are often empty. That seems a shame to me.0 -
It's still raining and there's bugg4h all free things to do [a] generally in the rain.
When you're looking to be out, 16 hours/day, including evenings, for free..... it can't be done
The only free thing here today seems to be standing in the rain looking outside at some new Renault electric cars (so that'd be 10 minutes) ..... then walk a mile there and a mile back in the soddin' rain and you'd be drenched for a week.0
