So .... I need a new PC, but don't want to create belongings that have to be carted about .... new PC will be bought when I'm a little more settled.
So, living with what I've got.
New laptop/PC alone wouldn't help me rebuild my empire; I need space, more space, a proper space for the PC (aka a desk) .... and, more importantly, my own head space.... unfettered by LLs.
I replaced my desktop with a laptop. No real need for a desktop these days as laptops have become so much more affordable.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. i know you are a family based business but would now be a good time to get someone into 'management' and work with them? They can deal with everything you and DH don't want to and expand into a couple of other directions.
For the retail part it would be staffed BUT a new retail outlet would be all consuming and isn't something that can be 100% delegated at the start (as you have to get a feel for it to prgress) ....but his main reason is the great British Public...he can't face dealing with that minority 1% who create stress, financial loss and absorb prescious resources both actual and mental.
Studio wise we now have a SAGE bookeeper on a freelance basis a few hours per week and she has slotted in great. She likes our environment and is happy to work at ours or, as she has 2 young kids, she'll put it on a stick and do at home if childcare is an issue.
I have a pattern cutter coming in for a month starting next week to work on a special project.
We don't really have a job spec for a manager as it's all the skilled odds and s0 ds of jobs that we need to delegate to free up 'thinking' time
A question for the nps about whistleblowing.
My ex-employer doesn't have a 'client money' policy in place, that is to say that it mixes up their money with their clients' money. That means that if they go bust their clients could lose all their money.
Should I go to the regulator about this? I think I should.
Vivas post was spot on but my instinct would be a 'yes' IF it didn't put out of a job.
Maybe suggest it (the seperating of the money) instead and see what the reaction isDS2 has been gone a week, DS1 is home. The house seems much quieter and more "adult".
Ours is like a nightclub rave some of the time and the rest of the time like a student hostel with full luxury hotel services.....provided by moi.
Mind you I quite like the house full of young people.....but we really appreciate it when they are both out for a night
Saw OH's sister today as she flew in from NZ yesterday. Caught up with all his family at a 'do' this afternooon.0 -

When we bought all our IT stuff for work my BIL got us these wicked little laptops from Dell that have a docking station at work. Just a docking thingy attached to a nice big screen.
Means we have the nice desk sized screen but can un-dock it and take it away when we like.
They weren't cheap but worth the extra.0 -

I am giving the UK one a miss this year but am saving my junk telly time for US X factor. Apparently it has already started and is a goody with Britney and SC.
I will record and watch on Saturdays instead.0 -
Watched "The Thick of It". Pure comedy magic! On to iplayer to catch up on the episodes I missed.
After DD mentioned her halls had a TV room , I spent a lot of today thinking of when my parents dropped me off at uni - all of 36 years ago. Three TV channels, [STRIKE]no[/STRIKE] barely any local radio, and cinema only just starting to recover from being slaughtered by bingo halls thanks to blockbusters like Jaws. There were only three ATMs in the whole city. There was a Tesco Bank where we all cashed our cheques on Saturday. Some pubs didn't admit women
and nothing but church was open on a Sunday.
Also, several NPs weren't on the scene yet! There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Sounds like she might be in the same halls as I was as I can only think of one which had a tv room. It also had a bar, a much better place to spend time!0

At the bottom end of the budget spending though I think you probably do still get more for your money in a PC.I replaced my desktop with a laptop. No real need for a desktop these days as laptops have become so much more affordable.
Also .... I can't just go buying new PCs etc. Would you believe I am so hardware challenged that I get somebody else to choose my kit for me
So, when it is time for something new.... I'll be asking the NP to find the best one for me.0 -
For those that haven't opened the curtains yet .... it's p155ing down out there.0
