I think i am not making pudding for dh and parent tonight. I just want a bath and bed tbh. I used the horrid slowcooker (beef stew, or casserole i suppose in that thing) and watching the jus get less and less untuous and more and more watery rurns my stomach. It will taste ok though I am sure.
Should have made the stew in a saucepan ... and made a nice winter rice pudding in the beast.

Still lying under the duvet.... just popped out/back... freezing.... hungry.... avoiding contact with being told what I should do ....

    Freezing fingers, can hardly type.
    ...

Oh just get a quad core laptop PN.

This one generates so much heat, it's like having a Corby trouser press on your lap !

    You won't need heating :)

I do think we can learn things from other countries. Here, the emphasis seems to be on that nicer German car; or paying a hell of a lot for a bit of extra space and longer garden.

My Canadian brother-in-law was really keen to show me something at the new lodge.

Was it the gallery landing; the 2 kitchens; the 3 verandas; what ?

Nope. It was a tatty hammock, fastened between 2 trees ! That is his pride and joy. I had to try it, and road test the special feature : a bit of rope which lets you build up a nice swing side to side. :rotfl:

I have to admit, it was fun.

He seems like a very nice down to earth guy.

He is definitely more sorted than me, I freely admit it.

I miss a lot from Canada - some of the things are obvious to imagine. Great scenery, less traffic, outdoor life etc.

But I found road manners were great, people forgave you if you made a mistake - here you'd get the finger treatment. The people I met were all really well mannered too. I'm not saying it's perfect of course, but it's the simple things like this which makes life better. We usually hold up the British way of life as a paragon of virtue, but I think we need to revisit our assumptions sometimes.

England was really polite place. Now it seems far from it often, the culture seems to be turning to its better to be mean and quick with retort than gracious and polite. Its a great loss imo.

Where I live the local roads are winding and there's a LOT of trees/foliage. Every time I go out I'll give way to a pedestrian trying to cross a road at a tricky point. I stop and clearly indicate with my whole open palm and a horizontal gesture that they can cross, so they don't miss it or wonder if they are misunderstanding.

I've met many Canadians whist travelling abroad. Very friendly out going people.

I'll have to go there one day - never been, but always wanted to go. It's the vast open spaces that appeal to me.

I'm still the same (nice) person I was when I only had one.
