Removal of child benefit = 4k pay cut for me plus inflation = another couple of k so I would need a 10% pay increase next Jan just to stand still

Lots of people have front door locks that require a key to be locked, even from the inside. Seems a risky idea - either you don't bother locking the door when you are home or you risk stumbling around in a smoke filled room in the event of a fire.
We have a yale and a 5 lever lock. Only use the yale if we are home and downstairs.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. here we go again! we have a new front door but it has no letter slot! so we need a letterbox/postbox.
Also I'm demanding a Yale lock, what would doozer advise? We have the lock that comes with the door but it looks rather cheap...
We have a decent sized letter box in a wood front door. The problem was finding something for the inside of the box, that kept the wind out. We settled on this:

I looked at a flat a few years ago that had a secure/locked gate to access it. By the gate was a letterbox that wouldn't have fitted a standard C4 envelope. Additionally, there was no bell for the flat. So friends or postmen/deliveries had no way of letting you know they were at the gate. Useless.0
