Stressed, frustrated, near to tears....can the children go back on school holidays please.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

From experience (and mine are much easier than yours i appreciate), the first two weeks are hell, then things settle down. Stick with it, things will get better.

Thanks, another morning spent chasing between the two schools trying to get things in place...something which should have been done last term.

They now admit to youngest 'falling through the cracks' but that doesn't help with trying to get him settled into a strange school, with unfamiliar staff and students, no support in the classroom (contrary to his statement) and getting over the safe guarding issue of him getting from one school to another without an escort.

The poor begger shut himself off from everyone last night, 4 hours where he didn't want any human contact and he got himself in such a state than when he did emerge (we couldn't go in to keep him company, he just freaked), he had worked himself up into a complete state of panic and confusion. He couldn't remember what plans had been made, where he had to go, what time, who with etc.

It was gone 3 this morning by the time I had settled him enough for his to doze off but he didn't sleep very well even then, not good when he has to be up fairly early for the school run.

    It's a complete nightmare.

And now to top it all, middle son is not happy either! They have moved him into a different form group, away from his musician friends into a form where he has nothing in common with the other students and who are of the type to judge on appearance rather than on the person. This means he has no way of interacting with the students in his form, none of them are musically talented, none of them want to talk about music (unless it is the latest One Direction CD and he is no fan of One Direction) and the structure and none who he can practice music with.

Making the situation even worse, is he now not allowed to practice music during form time, something they encouraged last school year as it was shown to calm some students down and was enabling them to make friends (and middle son was one of them, before that, he didn't really have friends).

So now I have a confused and unsettled complex autistic youngest and an increasingly antsy and angry aspergic middle son!

    James is happy though........

You can do it MissK! Maybe add some sugar to the caffeine?

Extra good luck if you need everything signing off today. I always found smiling sweetly whilst looking frazzled did the trick ;)

You know the saying about not complaining because there's always someone doing it tougher than you. It seems like you're that one ATM. Sheesh! Why would the school do this to your kids (and indirectly to you too)? It seems ridiculous.

I didn't go as far as I intended.... but I did go further than I thought. The sun was way too hot - and I've no hat and so I went 4 miles and sat and watched the boats etc go by ...... then I cycled back. 8 miles in total though, so not too shabbty; at least I went out. SCORCHIO though!! SCORCHIO!!!!

Sue ......is it time you seized back control and got bl**dy minded with the headteacher?

I am usually a negotiating/compromising sort however when faced with a large complex administration like a school and your deteriorating situation I would put that aside and cut to the chase, consistently and persistently.

First questions about why can they not operate the plan they agreed with you for your youngest? What recourse is available to you and how do serious complaints get to the Governors or LEA?

On to middle son - if the forms have been re-organised could he be moved into one where he has at least one musical friend? Can he meet up with them at break times?

You need to pull what ever levers you can to get your problem sorted as I expect they have quite a few and will be happy to keep the lid on the quiet ones.

Can the boy's father engage with the school too or will this just add to your strains?

I am sun-exhausted.... feet are killing me and I feel really sleepy and lethargic. So I've opened a bag of crisps, to see if I can get through them.... I have no sweeties :(
