    Good call. :T

Come on Pastures a packet of fags is more than a couple of lamb chops.

You have pleaded your last poverty line with me you are well able to trade up on the sausages:p. It is about spending choices.
I use rolling tobacco these days ... when not in public and I'm on about 12/day, that's probably about £1.50/day or so. I'm paying for my smoking by not renting a flat to myself, or a studio.

But fags -v- lamb chops isn't a straight comparison really ....

I'm not right in the head and need the fags for now .... once settled, I will be giving them up,

It's well worth doing at any age. Some people find it easy I think but I needed about 30 attempts to give up but I kept on trying and eventually made it.

If I was asked which was the more important ability - to give up quickly or to give up repeatedly I'd say the latter.

I know that sounds counterintuitive but anyone who gives up, and relapses, needs to know the game's not over yet!:T

Now you can tell people "Give up - it's easy .... I've done it 30 times!"

I can't do rollies, but I've got a machine that takes "empty filtered tubes" ... and I shove the baccy into a slot, hold the tube/filter on the end, then pull it back/forth and the tobacco goes into the tube. Tobacco comes in a box that looks like a fag packet ... and the fags look like proper fags. OK for most uses.... just unsafe if driving (in case it all falls out in your lap as you put too little in).

Papers are 1p each, baccy is cheap.... I'd do the maths but the whole kit's hiding in a box in my car as here I'm a non smoker .... so that gives 12 hours/day I can't smoke as I can't even go out for one else I'll be rumbled :)

Talking of chops.... never seen the point in them. We used to sometimes have chops when I was a kid. You got one thin chop, the meat was the size of a 50p piece and you had to wrestle it off the bone/fat .... lot of effort for so little meat. More meat in a sausage, probably 2x as much meat in a cheap sausage than one pork chop... unless you liked the fat too.

Pork chops are ok for meat...but lamb chops, delicious but gone in a mouthful :(

In the posh stakes I find I agree with PN.

what I couldn't say (as my laptop battery died) was that some can quit immediately and others take 2, 5, 10, 20 or more attempts,

No matter if it takes even 100 or 1,000 attempts to quit (or even cut down), never give up, or regard yourself as defeated.

The game's never over until you declare the results as one to your satisfaction.

    No worries!

They say you're more likely to get most of your intellect from your mum and most of your temperament from your dad.

Hope that's good news for most NPs. :D

I like to be different.. I got my intellect from my dad, my ambition from my dad and most of my temperament from my dad.

    Got my mum's stubborness though......:rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

What age did your ex think that htey should start supporting themselves? 7? (Sorry, not NP comment.)

We had that ethos at one point, we've moved to a "work better not harder" and become concerned about the right life-balance as we've got older.

Well, I know he expected them to behave and understand like adults at about age 2...he could never quite get the "Er, they are only toddlers, they don't understand about table conversation etiquette!" Or that they had to be taught not to run into the road or how to share toys rather than knowing by some kind of osmosis.

Financially, well you all know what he is like, I know he seems to think that his money pays for all their clothes, shoes, entertainment, food etc and that I pay absolutely nothing towards it....yeah right, £30 a week (for all 3, not each) is really going to provide them with everything isn't it!

Sorry, sarcasm chip is well and truly installed tonight....

I must have given up well over 100 times but I reckon I am now a genuine ex-smoker. I've probably had 10 cigarettes in the past 5 years and none in 2012.

It is very easy to give up but very, very tough to stay off the cigs. It's well worth trying though. Lung cancer is a horrible death.

I was lucky i was helped give them up. ( you cannot smoke in hosipitals or in a coma!). But i have found it easy to stay off, Maybe 3 tried a few years back? Eack one has made me feel very ill. Easy to stay off as a result. however, i was a very light smoker.
