You don't actially need a ring and when we did it it cost about £100 to get married. Its mse to be able to use a lower income earners tax rate for saving and to make sure financial planning is good, e.g by topping up isa allowance if needed.0 -

So now we know what you have to do to justify your existence to your employer, but are left wondering what you have to do to justify your existence to Mrs Chewy?

unfortunately not-mrs chewie now earns about £15 over the higher rate tax threshold so is utterly useless to me as a tax saving device these days. this marriage lark is looking poorer value for money by the second!0 -

it is the 6th anniversary of me attacking her in a dodgy club somewhere i think. i can't remember whether she assigned that as the start point, or our official first date in strada (better than my previous relationship - i took her to burger king first up). she will remind me which one it is tomorrow no doubt.
better remember to spend 3 minutes ordering some overpriced flowers from interflora to be delivered to her office tomorrow. i really want to send her a ridiculous 5ft tall teddy bear or something really annoyingly embarassing - but i know what will happen, she'll bring the ruddy thing to dinner to get me back.0 -

Have a baby then, and get childcare couchers from both employers. It will cost you, but at least it will mean less profit to essay setting boss.
Dh had a boss who set him a paper once. (not sadistic boss, but a boss who i can only think to refer to in a non oc term, so i will just called him boss). Sometimes you just have to accept those jerks have spent so much time out of their trees they have forgotten they are monkeys.
Write the essay, get married, have wonderful honeymoon sex and make babies, then buy a house already.0 -

Btw, flowers? Wives don't get them very often. Your savings would start pretty quickly with the marriage on that basis.0 -
