If eating wasn't a biological necessity, I'd just do it for a hobby. :D

I love food, but usually i could take or leave it on a daily basis. I would rather eat really well occasionally, usually. There are days though, whjere hot melting mozzerella, something in batter or crumb, or bought cake/bread just hit the spot.

I still dream about fc123's coronation chicken though. That woman is a genius. Np seem to make good cooks if they like it. Misskool gave us a jar of chilli jelly that was really good. She gave me the recipe but i have not tried to make it yet. A friend gave me a jar of chilli jelly and it was not a patch on missk's.

I think what i actually fancy is a pumkin seed cracker with goats cheese and honey and fig and almond cake. Which is not junk. But i don't have that either. Or a ritz craker with chocolate mousse, If i did not know better i would take a pregnancy test.

The head of my department has been away on holiday for the last few weeks. He got back today, and is not happy that I am leaving. Trying to push back my leaving date, getting all whingey and then contradicting himself by tacitly suggesting that I don't really do any work and don't need to be replaced... I didn't push my luck by asking if I could go tomorrow on that basis. I now have to write a paper saying what it is that I've been doin for the last six months, despite the fact that I've got too much work to get done inside normal office hours. Wouldnt mind if i didnt already spend an hour a week meeting with him to tell him what is going on...Thrilled.

    Some questions/suggestions:
Who is the audience for your paper? - If it is only ex boss can you do it with a 'light touch'?

Why have you got to write the paper? Could you suggest he summarises his notes of your regular meeting?

If you have got to do it can you set it out as a table with a column for Objectives and another for progress, so you can also use it as a handover summary?

Has it got to be a 'paper' could you do it as a powerpoint. Smart art is a pithy way of conveying a lot quickly and you do not have to think about how to organise it.

Someone mentioned cars earlier and Polo /Jazz sized cars were mentioned. Personally I find this size great in town but if I were choosing I wold take the next size up for Golf/Auris/Civic for more comfort and safety on the motorway.
    I think....

he is still my ultimate boss and he needs to agree to my release date so i can move to my other job (it's internal so i cannot just give notice)

because he wants me to (with hindsight) justify my existence i think. i could suggest that but i think somehow it would end in tears. my tears!

it needs to be a paper really. my job is essentially a triage point for work coming into my department so i probably do 100 bloody things a week, it's going to take ages (it does serve me right as i'm supposed to keep a log but i stopped because no one ever looks at it).

basically i'm just going to have to stop moaning and get it done. doesn't help that this is only a 4 day week though, and i can't stay late tomorrow...anniversary!

I'm looking for a new car from next year so if anyone has any ideas please let me know. I want a small hatchback, pref with four rather than two doors. It has to be petrol rather than diesel as diesel triggers asthma which I don't get otherwise. I'd also like it to have air conditioning and be reasonably nippy. I'm looking to buy a pre-reg for no more than £12k.

Its also got to be well built, I like to have my cars from new and then run them for about 14-15 years. Currently Polo is the frontrunner.

    Don't get a Polo

Get a Fabia/Ibiza....exactly the same car underneath, but about £1500 cheaper
