Talking of avatars, Wheezy - I can't get my head around you not looking like Wheezy!
Just what I was thinking. Wheezy, you are a penguin, and always will be, I'm afraid.PasturesNew wrote: »Old's giving problems ... just minor, but at that age you think it might be the beginning of several recurring issues before 'the big shuffle'
Hurrah for homes.... they simply sort it all out then let you know when the event is all sorted/patched up and become settled again, Worth every penny of my inheritanceand more.
Hugs. Glad the home are taking the pressure off you.Who is it now? To be honest I wouldn't be sending them any smutty PM's

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Welcome YoungBusinessman. You seem to have joined while I've been too busy to post for a few days. :hello:Fairly certain that's not true.
1/4 that is is recessive in one parent x the same in the other = 1/16
(1/16)^2 that it happens with both kids = 1/256
~Out of the 4 grandkids, only only one has brown eyes and neither of our hubbies do.
Chewy is right. We know that both parents have a brown and blue gene, or none of the children would have blue eyes at all (assuming that Mum is behaving herself). Given that combination of parental genes, there is therefore a 1/4 chance of each child having blue eyes, and a 1/16 chance of both of them. 1/16 is not that rare or surprising. If you pass a florist, you can check on this: can all NPs smell freesias (only about 2/3 of the country have the right allele I gather).?
I didn't know smelling freesias was genetic. I can smell them and love them, and so could my mum. I like lillies too.
I am considering making major alterations to my small garden....
1) It was designed by retired people who had lots of time to do gardening. I need something lower maintenance.
2) The kids next door are on my trampoline all the time (which is good because it stops DD getting bored and lonely) but next door's boy is not sensible enough to stay in the middle and we adults are afraid he'd going to fall off soon, so I really need to put the enclosure net back up.
3) The garden is v small and the trampoline enclosure is huge, so I want to move it right into the corner where it won't be so overwhelming. The corner is where the climbing frame is, but the kids say they are now too grown-up to want a climbing frame, so it can go.
4) The garden is basically flat but slopes up at the edges. The ground in the corner would need levelling before the trampoline could be put there.
5) There is a small tree in the middle of the garden that is damaging the drains. It needs to be cut down, and then the roots need to be dug out and the pipe repaired. This will cause a lot of disruption anyway so should be a good time to level the corner.
The plan is to have the whole thing levelled and then laid to lawn apart from a few climbing plants going up the fence (including the existing clematis and probably some other scented things - I fancy a jasmine and a honeysuckle) and some bulbs.
Meanwhile I have just acquired a little orange tree for the conservatory. My dad got it for me at the weekend when he was here for my birthday. I'm also going to retrieve an olive tree that I was given ages ago as a leaving present from my previous job and have been keeping at my parents' house during house moves etc until I could decide what to do with it. Then I will eventually get pelargoniums as recommended by lir. Tried to get some with my dad but the garden centre was out of them.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? With our trampoline if you put it right next to a fence the netting would not stop you hurting yourself. If you need to get a new safety net it might be cheaper to get a new smaller trampoline especially this time of year.I think....0

The old net was designed to go between the bed and the springs. It would probably stop you hitting the fence, and even if it didn't, it would have slowed you down enough that you would hit the fence reasonably slowly. You would also only be hitting a flat fence, not falling right off and cracking your skull on whatever hard-cornered object happened to be on the ground. I still have all the supports for the old net - just need a new net to hang from them, and a couple of helpful people to help me put it up - it's a job for several grown-ups, unlike assembling the trampoline itself, which is easily done by one grown-up, whether or not "assisted" by a child.Next door have offered to go halves on the cost of the new net, since it's just as much to keep their kids safe as mine.

Thanks lir. Pastures, at that corner, one piece of fence separates our garden from the road, and the other side separates our garden from the driveway of the people whose kids will be spending all their time on the trampoline. It's because my house is a corner plot, so there isn't really a "back" to have a "back garden" and so the garden's between the house and where the road goes round the corner.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
