Well, that's not as strange as what happens in this family.
If you pass a florist, you can check on this: can all NPs smell freesias (only about 2/3 of the country have the right allele I gather).?There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I can smell freesias.
Lilies smell repellant to me though. Of pee.0 -

There are some really nice quite cheap ones, but they are black iron, not bronze, so will not match. Didn't someone here have an idea about that?0 -

My random google link at the time (if I gave one) was just http://www.gaterosplating.co.uk/Bronze-Brush-Plating-Kit.php (random/google, not recommended).... but it does show you what to expect.0 -

i'm too tight to pay for the gas to heat the water, but you're welcome to sit in the bath!0 -

Thanks! Think that might be our best bet0 -
If each event is independent and 1 in 4, then the chance of both is 1 in 16. Surely?
Don't know anything about epigenetics.
SC - here's how it works.
you have chromosomes, which contain genes, which when "expressed" make proteins which do stuff - like, e.g. make your eyes a certain colour (apologies if this is patronising, i am still half cut i think).
everyone has two copies of each chromosome, and you have 23 pairs in total. so take pair 1 for example. both of your copies of "chromosome 1" have the same set of genes on it, i.e. they are the same in that they are the "eye colour" and "hair colour" gene, but they may be slightly different, chromosome 1a may have a "blue eyes" gene in the "eye colour" slot and chromosome 1b may have a "brown eyes gene" in the eye colour slot. some genes "dominate" other genes, so in simple terms if you have one "brown eyes" gene and one "blue eyes gene" your eyes will be brown, because the brown eyes gene dominates the blue eyes one. (zag explained the technical reason that brown dominates blue, which i never knew - very interesting for a science geek!)
when you reproduce, you only pass one of copy of each of your chromosomes on. so basically each egg and each sperm randomly have one copy of each chromosome.
so if both parents have chromosomes 1a and 1b as described above, the possible chromosomal combinations are:
egg 1a, sperm 1a (brown eyes)
egg 1a, sperm 1b (brown eyes)
egg 1b, sperm 1a (brown eyes)
egg 1b, sperm 1b (blue eyes)
so if both parents are brown eyed but happen to carry the blue eyed recessive gene, then there is a 1 in 4 chance that the offspring will have blue eyes.
if both parents have blue eyes then they have two copies of the blue eyes gene so the child will definitely have blue eyes.
however, if one parent has two copies of the brown eyes gene, the offspring can never have blue eyes (although they might get a one copy of the blue eyes gene from the other parent, if the other parent is a carrier, so the grandchildren would still have a chance of having blue eyes in that scenario - but only if the offspring mated with another "carrier").0 -

Not me though, I'm happy for you all to know who I am which is why I have posted my real picture.
I'm with PN. Online identity, RL identity - best kept entirely separate, IMO.chewmylegoff wrote: »I got the job that I applied for. Wooooo.
:T:T:T:T:TDo you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
