Thank you sss. I wouldn't buy unless they become available here. AIUI providers are reluctant to introduce them but presumably won't be able to hold back the tide forever.0

Atm dh has his own phone, two work bbs and sometimes his italian phone, two work laptops. Its like going out with PCWorld or carphone warehouse. I am grateful fax ing days are over. My dad used to take a fax machine on holiday with him.
I have just had a late breakfast of banana omlette a recipe given on the health and beauty board. Its the second time i had it and its rather sweet, where as usually i just have plain eggs in the morning. Recently i have been scrambling two eggs (no milk) but laziness often sees me dry fry an egg, but my favourite is definitely poached or boiled. Why is one poached, fried or boiled egg filling enough but scrambled or omletted two is the minimum to satiate?0 -

Must be psychological. The first look a meal in themseves (especially with a piece of toast) maybe but a one egg omelette looks rather insignificant?0 -

I'm sure that's right. Plus a fried or poached egg is often with another protein source like bacon or sausage but an omelette or scrambled eggs may just be with something starchy like toast or chips.
I read that during the war, butchers had to set their meat slicers thinner so when the meat ration was low, you got two thin slices on your plate instead of the one normal-thickness one, and they were healthier days food-wise.:)
On the other thread I found this post by JJ Egan as it has a belter of a link.and felt it was worth posting here. It's a gem- al labout how to find (legit) free books on the web!
I'm enjoying my Terry Pratchett /Stephen Baxter Book. Hope I can get round to the Dexter book before work catches up with me:DThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I usually have a fried agg by itself or on a crumpet, a poached eff on spinach, and a boiled eggy by itself.....yum yum.0

Just found these ..... and I'm gobsmacked I'd not seen them before. It's a sandwich maker that's easy to use, easy to clean and can be used on any stove or even on a fire or BarBQ
http://www.lazyboneuk.com/products/Diablo-Sandwich-Maker.html
What I always hated about sandwich makers was they were tricky to keep clean (round the joints) and didn't give good/deep sandwiches. They were also a nuisance to wrap the cord round the machine and put back into the cupboard.... where they tended to stay.
I won't be getting one because I actually make toasted sandwiches by dry frying them ... but for those with student kids, one of these and a bunch of recipes could get them eating "almost normal" food in a hurry.
http://www.cookuk.co.uk/diablo/diablo-sandwich-toaster-recipe-index.htm
Benefits over a toasted sandwich maker: Deeper pan, easier to use, no plug, smaller to store, easier to store/accommodate, easier to clean.
Pros: Bit pricey for what it is.0 -

New LL is further proving to be a flakey, forgetful, poor-memoried, disorganised mess.....
Got a txt saying room was empty, did I need linens/freeview. I replied I've got linens etc but no freeview. Txt also asked if I could be phoned yesterday, I replied "yes, any time".
Had no phone call. Never mind.
Just had a call - asked again about linen/freeview.... and when was I moving in. Well, the date we arranged - which the LL had written in their diary at our last meeting and has now apparently completely forgotten. I've had no indication from her it could ever be earlier, but LL seemed to think/hope I could drop everything and move in soonest.
So, date agreed, key pickup arranged (at her suggestion) for the night before .... and within 2 minutes I'd had a txt to ask if we could make it an hour later as she has some beauty appointment earlier.
I suspect a rollercoaster ride of disorganised chaos in the LL's personal life to plague my quiet enjoyment... and let's not forget, this LL has an actual real life business they run on their own.....
Had to laugh though ... LL 'confessed' on the phone that now the place is empty they're finding it freaky/scarey to be aloneWith better communication on the LL's part I could have easily moved in tomorrow..... tough !!!! now as I've paid here, in full, to the end of the month.
P.S. don't quote this as I'll be deleting it later.... in case I make a future mistake and LL ends up discovering my identity and discovers this post0 -
PN - i like the idea that you are worried about your LL discovering your online identity. Most people are more concerned about online people discovering their real identity!
Not me though, I'm happy for you all to know who I am which is why I have posted my real picture.0 -

I wish you looked a little more like, say, viggo mortensen. Just for a change.0
