Blimey - Ruby Turner. Not seen her for years.

Met her once, when I'd gatecrashed a Cambridge May Ball and she was in the loos I think it was.

Edit: It was at Darwin College.... just got to find the year now, it was about 30 years ago.

I can't remember how many of those I've gatecrashed, but they certainly included: Darwin College, Robinson College, Sidney Sussex College, Trinity College. Which indicates I did it 4 years in a row. I nearly tried for Kings, but the silly bint I was with chickened out so we walked over the bridge instead and went home.

They're fab - all free food and drinks. I had my first (and only/ever) crepe at Trinity. There was a whole hog roast at Robinson (which was the cr4ppiest of the 4).

I might remember where else I did a bit later... it's hard to remember that far back.

The person in front gets bloody annoyed, probably me, I once had someone screaming for at least 10 minutes after take off from Bangkok a few years ago. Apparently she didn't like flying!

I’d never have guessed from that ;)

Well, I bring only good news tonight!

    WE’RE GOING TO AMSTERDAM!

What does anyone think to this?

This is following a row a few weeks back about whether she could represent Moldova last year (which is where we picked her up) and then Russia this year, to which it was confirmed that there was nothing in the rules that said she couldn’t, but nothing in the rules to say she could :)

I guess I should add a note about what the world was like 30 years ago ... I gatecrashed what the organisers considered to be "super secure" security cordons and dozens of security officers. I would get myself issued with a legit security tag with stealth, cunning and timing. But back then the world was a different place. If I'd been discovered it'd have just been terribly embarrassing for 10 minutes as I'd have just said "Yeah, you caught me" and been politely escorted to the door.

These days it'd cause a major incident and probably involve being wrestled to the ground and dragged off in a police van and getting in the nationals.

Because they believed the locations were secure, they were too arrogant to actually grasp the concept that it is possible for somebody to simply walk in. They'd secured the gates, the walls had barbed wire round the whole perimeter, security guards were along the walls and on all the doors.... very secure. Trick was, I was on the premises about 6 hours before lock-down, discussing things like power points and changing rooms and band requirements with the (inexperienced/student) organisers ..... so when it came to lock down and everybody had to leave that wasn't part of the event, my face was already known and they'd made so many c0ck ups and had so many other panics at that point I simply had to present myself at the organising office and say my band were pulling out if I didn't get my security tag and they'd throw one at me.

Job done. Off to find the free drinks and a burger :)
