I know, it's as close a dish as you're going to get; cooked in a baking tray, sliced, and you can add sausage/meat/even veg to it; similar to an omelet :)

I think dh and i both like being married,

He says he does. Today he has been as ever, amazing. When i woke up he filled the bath (now defunct with a shower over) with hot water from kettles and the shower and put bubble bath in it. Hauled me out of bed and sat and chatted while i splashed away in there for a bit, then helped me cook supper. He planted stuff i had in pots and walked the dogs and kept coming to check on me. I fell asleep on him one of these visits so he stayed and watched a film. His patience and capacity to love and be helpful astounds and humpbles me... While i tease chewy about his gf if he doesn't feel humbled and amazed and butterflies in stomach then he is probably right not to mary her. I know i could never live with someone again who i did not want to give the moon and the stars.

The two of you are so lovely together. When I see how fir behaves towards you, I am reminded of my dad and the way he loved my mum - which is very high praise from me. There is such an atmosphere of generosity and an absence of resentment. If I ever marry again I want those things.

I spent most of Saturday at my aunt's 90th birthday weekend and had a great time. Everyone enjoyed it loads, especially the "birthday girl", and I felt slightly smug because she was saying at my mum's funeral that she wasn't going to bother with a 90th party because nobody would want to come, and I was the one who told her that of course people would want to come and she ought to have one. There were loads of us there - 13 out of the 15 of us cousins in my generation, 6 of my aunt's 8 grandchildren and both her great-grandchildren, a sprinkling of my aunt's innumerable cousins or their descendants, and quite a few friends of the family.

I don't get to see my cousins often enough, I think, and it was particularly nice to see them when it wasn't a funeral. I'm now getting ideas about persuading my dad to have a big 90th party in 4 years' time. I don't think he'll need much persuading, though - extended family has always been important to him and he was in his element at his sister's do this weekend.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Mmmm.... Yorkshire puddings. I like the giant ones filled with veggies and mint sauce, but any type, with any veggie filling will do. I so love my YoYos that I've tried them with pretty much everything and can state quite categorically that the little ones are lovely filled with melted goats cheese or similar and a dob of cranberry sauce... Yummmmmmmmmm
