Had an absolutely brilliant day today...great music, cheap drinks (25p for a pint of cordial!) but fear I will pay for it tomorrow as I moved about a wee bit too much, I barely managed to make it back to the car after the gig.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

District 9 is very clever, though I was glad to see it on an aeroplane as I think it would have been too gory for me on anything bigger. I don't really do gore as I have to watch either through fingers or from behind a cushion, or if really bad, walk out and leave him watching.

Very much enjoyed The Artist last night, though that could have done with being on a bigger screen as the whole thing is so visual.

A film from a couple of years back that doesn't get much press, yet everyone I know who has watched it really liked is Wild Target:

It has very broad appeal, so is a good pick if you have a group of people who want different things from movies.

For the pathos and cinematography I loved A Single Man:

My all time favourite films - I don't have one but there's about 50 I'd watch again - include these:
    The French Connection http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067116/
    Shakespeare in Love http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0138097/
    Mississippi Burning http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095647/
    Unbearable Lighness of Being http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096332/
    The Princess Bride http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093779/
    Some Like it Hot http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053291/
    The Right Stuff http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086197/
    Oceans 11 (new version) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0240772/
    Casablanca http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034583/
    Airplane http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080339/

Good selection. your first two I'd never heard of; will look out for them.

Read Kundera's "Unbearable Lighness of Being" in the early 80s but never knew it was now a film. Loved "the Princess Bride" with its ROUSs.

I intend to put some time aside this summer to watch some good stuff.

Hmm - I think maybe I should let the DKs watch the unbearable lightness of being - its never to young to start learn a bit of existentialism ;)
This needs to be translated into English.

Can't post this elsewhere around here as it isn't an economic story, but it did cause me to break out in a wry smile.

Have you noticed how many websites are now posting pesky messages regarding accepting cookies? Apparently this is due to law changes instigated by the EU. Which the EU itself has decided to ignore:
    http://www.zdnet.com/blog/london/sweet-irony-eu-imposes-cookie-law-ignores-own-rules/4975
The original deadline was last week, but then they moved the deadline at the 11th hour - and, technically, we should all see one of those on every website we visit as it applies to any website that gets traffic from the EU and uses cookies... and as 99.99999% of sites use cookies that's pretty much all of them.

It's been on my "to do" list for over a year.... not got round to implementing it at the moment.

Ah, but that probably relies on no limit at the casino and having an unlimited bank account to bankroll yourself for an hour to achieve the doubling. Otherwise you'd be there, not here.....

Ooooh heavens, thank goodness that was said with a wink!

Existentialism always seems as robust as the Heineken advert from 1986. “The Blue Sock”.

If there was a branch of philosophy that could be wiped out by its experts dying in an airplane crash and leave the world no worse off or less wise, what would it be? Hmmmm!

I can't believe that it is June and I have had to switch the heating back on. Daytime high of 13 degrees and rain, tomorrow 12 degrees and more rain. Another typical British bank holiday.

Sun just came out here. Still clouds about, but the sun's around too. Temperature gauge inside, with the curtains closed shows 22 degrees - and sun's only JUST come out, so there's been no pre-warming at this point.

About 15C outside at present and quite pleasant. We dismantled a marquee between 8am and 9.30am and it was good to do that with no gusty wind or rain.

Fields have grown tremendously in 48 hours or so. I know when I can't see the fence posts any more that the hay is just about ready, so there's a way to go yet.

Pasties and cider at the beacon tonight. Someone lit a big beggar last night....either that, or they had a barn fire!
