How does the metal tap thing work? I used to work in a well-known kitchenware shop and we sold what were basically metal in the shape of a bar of soap as odour eliminators. Pretty sure we sold those egg timers too0 -

The cafe in question belongs to a friend of mine; eaten in there every day for 3 years and not been ill yet
We’ve got cups with ‘Xhris’ (I’ve got the Russian spelling in my passport) and ‘Ia’ (Short for Sopho, don’t ask how) on them now, so I can’t really stop going in there💙💛 💔0 -

As the old saying goes, "if your friends don't like garlic, get new friends"
I'd imagine the metal smell removal is due to chemical effects. Flavour and smell chemicals are often non-polar as are metals.
If you think of silly movies like "the Core" they did get it right that rock (being polar/ionic) would be a separate layer from the metals which are non-polar. A bit like oil and water forming separate layers except that metals are denser.:cool:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Lucky him! A great film!
Some films simply have to be seen!;)
Do NPs have other suggestions?
District 9 is very clever, though I was glad to see it on an aeroplane as I think it would have been too gory for me on anything bigger. I don't really do gore as I have to watch either through fingers or from behind a cushion, or if really bad, walk out and leave him watching.
Very much enjoyed The Artist last night, though that could have done with being on a bigger screen as the whole thing is so visual.
A film from a couple of years back that doesn't get much press, yet everyone I know who has watched it really liked is Wild Target:

It has very broad appeal, so is a good pick if you have a group of people who want different things from movies.
For the pathos and cinematography I loved A Single Man:

My all time favourite films - I don't have one but there's about 50 I'd watch again - include these:
The French Connection http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067116/
Shakespeare in Love http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0138097/
Mississippi Burning http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095647/
Unbearable Lighness of Being http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096332/
The Princess Bride http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093779/
Some Like it Hot http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053291/
The Right Stuff http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086197/
Oceans 11 (new version) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0240772/
Casablanca http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034583/
Airplane http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080339/Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Can't post this elsewhere around here as it isn't an economic story, but it did cause me to break out in a wry smile.
Have you noticed how many websites are now posting pesky messages regarding accepting cookies? Apparently this is due to law changes instigated by the EU. Which the EU itself has decided to ignore:

When I was there with four mates we just played $10 minimum bet blackjack. Because blackjack is a 51/49 game if there are enough of you, you aren't going to lose much on average between all of you if you play by the "rules". So if you all agree to pool all winnings and losses you can basically sit there and get drunk for almost nothing. They close the tables and make you move after a bit but you can just go and do it in another hotel.
I had a very messy and troublesome night in there though when the waitress misunderstood my accent and brought me six "sky waters" in a row instead of the "iced water" I had asked for. By the time I realised I was drinking vodka and water it was too late, the rest is history and I lost a month's salary that night!
I was in a casino earlier on; did about £14k in profit! I’ve got a trick to ensure that you never lose. Walk in with £2k, I’ll guarantee you’ll double it in an hour

We all know that it’s going on.
The problem is that no EU country is going to challenge it, as they’re afraid of sanctions!

The thing with the garlic press is that although it is inefficient and wasteful, you do not have to ever touch the garlic with your hands, which means your hands don't stink of garlic for 2 days afterwards.
Not as satisfying as thumping garlic with cleaver then chopping it to death though
I love garlic, I don't care if I smell (well, I also work in a lab with not many people and more chemicals but that's beside the point)0
