And so you could .... there are 90,000 shot each year.

The programme I was watching was where some bloke called Jimmy (one of Jamie Oliver's mates), who has telly programs and does organic meat rearing went to Tesco to ask if he could produce a free-range/organic product that rivalled one of their top sellers. spotted meatballs and decided to try to make meatballs. So he picked those dead calves - this is called veal and veal has a bad name based on practices in the 1980s when they were treated badly. But UK Rose Veal is always grown outdoors and happy. European veal doesn't have the same standards. So he tried to make the meatballs out of veal, but Tesco said people wouldn't like it, especially as they were stuffed full of stuff like oregano. So then he tried a veal/pork mix; they weren't overkeen on those too based on a variety of reasons (including price).

Was just about to say how strange, we're watching a programme talking about male calves... then I realised we're watching 4+1

I do like (lean) meat. But if we all stopped eating it I'd not be bothered. What I like about meat isn't so much the taste (which could be replicated), it's the texture you get from meat that you can't get in a veggie burger.

You can't take a meat dish and replicate the meaty bits with veggies ... else I'd not bother with meat at all.

OOOOOH! A lovely new thread :D

I’m going to start with a question; Is the debate house prices board just for house prices, or for the economy as a whole?

Going to be kickstarting a new thread and need to know where to put it :)

    Economy in general

I’ve used the Byki on my MacBook, although it’s about 3 years old now (Bought in June 2010), so I don’t know if the new system would affect it.

You can debate any facet of the economy on the board CK. Personally I prefer the economy as a debating subject. I feel as though we've done house prices to death around these parts.

Doh! Sorry, just realised that lir and silver answered before me. Still finding my way round this new pad...

I’ve used both Byki and Transparent to kickstart about six languages (mainly work-based). The general idea on this is the basis of speaking basic elements of a language opens doors in business.

Only if you deal with furreners. :)
I've never worked in a job where they had furreners.

Anyway ... doesn't everybody speak English??

    :)

I'm onto Hidden Talent now :)
    You'll get that next.

Meatballs programme was annoying really ... that bloke is annoying. He might have a business etc, but he didn't seem to grasp a lot of fundamentals that I thought everybody knew. He must be where he is because of who he knows and luck.

I heard some really sad news tonight. Someone has been murdered in the street I grew up in. It was only 20 houses and the house where it happened was very close to our old house. I didn't know the people involved or anything like that, but have such happy safe memories of the place its just inconceivable to think something so dreadful could happen there.
