Accommodation sorted. One month by the beach, then I'll move to the town. Actual details/dates to be confirmed.

Does anyone know how long the olympic opening ceremony is likely to last? I am trying to decide whether i should pop chooks in early to watch it.

my understanding is that it starts about 8pm and lasts until 12/12.30am.

I've got to get fortunes out of the bank in cash in the next few days.... I'll need £250 tonight (deposit on 1st place), £500 Monday (deposit on 2nd place) and balance of Hotel account on Monday, £100 or so. £110 minimum Monday (moving into 1st place)

£960 .... I can take out £300/day from cashpoints... lot of faffing around though.

Might have to skimp on the moving in money ..... and promise to make up the difference on Tuesday. Or skimp on the 2nd place deposit as it is a deposit to prove I want the room and won't disappear, rather than an actual moving in day deposit.

Only other way would mean a trip to the bank.... which could only be tomorrow as I'll be busy Monday moving out of here and into the 2nd place.

I've never tried to take cash out over the counter of my bank.... I think there's a branch in town. Just looked it up ... my actual bank would be a 50 mile round trip. I'm with CoOp, but their branch locator map shows a Britannia in town.... wonder if that'd work.

You can go inside the branch to take out as much as you like - up to the branch's cash limit.

    Cheers :)

I opened my bank account in about 1989/90 and it was a Britannia. They then got taken over by the CoOp and the branch I used (rarely) closed.... and for the past 20 odd years I've not had a branch within 100 miles of me so it's never been something I've needed to do. I also don't even know if I have a cheque book as I don't use cheques. I do everything with debit cards and cash :)

I hadn't expected to need so much, so soon, so close together; the 2nd woman said to me today "need a deposit, I've had friends who have been let down", which I didn't expect.

I'll go out in about 20-30 minutes, get the first tranche, then pay deposit on the first place at 7 tonight.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Private appt on the fourteenth. The letter tells me the consultant will 'be pleased to see me'. The nhs one for the last guy (who arranged private mri but have to go nhs again for equipment issues) says the office is open between 8 and 4 am, call for an appointment in the afternoon. Neither of those are my typos.
