Tubes are running until 3am tomorrow I think- but I reckon I'd try the overland train first personally, esp for north London. I reckon everyone will be trying to get on the tube. I have no evidence for this though.

Thanks. I'm kind of resigned to picking him up from somewhere... Pick your favourite from Stanmore, Watford, St Albans, Hemel, Chorleywood, Edgware, High Barnet or Potters Bar.

London peeps, how did day one of the Olympic lanes go? How were the tube lines round the east end with the practice opening going ahead? Hope you all got around ok.

It's totally buzzing in SE Lundun.

The new phasing on the lights along the lower road (running alongside the river to Greenwich) are totally insane.
We couldn't work it out .....why why why??? Backing up traffic at some lights a mile outside Greenwich town centre for no reason then we twigged it
    *LBM*.

It's because Greenwich is a quaint cute area/village overflowing with picturesque (pronounced picture-skew) buildings, seeping with history and character and the eqeustrian event is in the midst of it all. What would spoil it for the visitors is the continual torrent of traffic that clogs it up day in day out as the old town is essentially stuck inside a giant roundabout.

I know how bad it was back then as we had a large shop there until 2000 and it's even worse now.

So someone decided that to keep it all nice and calm and traffic-lite they would back the traffic up in Charlton/Woolwich....which is causing us havoc day to day but this traffic is not near a venue as the shooting venue is further up the hill

The CPZ is now in force but DD car permit had a typo ( V instead of U) so we panicked today called the council and guess who made a personal visit to our house tonight @ 8.30 pm with a new permit?
A V Nice Man from the council :) I almost feel like pm-ing TWH.

I now live with a yellow tow away sign on the lampost outside....the tow away signs are everywhere so I can only pop out to get milk etc from a shop within my CPZ.

On a positive note our shoot yesterday got interrupted as paused to watchthe tall sail ships go up the river to Greenwich. Like a pirate invasion.

I can't think which room is best PN?
I am thinking the 1st esp during winter when you won't be able to spend your days beach snoozing.

Nice man today has two others to see: one who would want the room ongoing and one who would want it from 01/09.... so, depending on what I want to do, he chooses a tenant to match that. So everybody wins.... if the first woman says tomorrow "from end Aug" then I'll go to the beach one for a month, then change to the town one (ready for winter) ... win win for everybody.

Only fly in the ointment is if the woman tomorrow says sooner than end of August but if that happens I'll tell her I've already booked/paid for somewhere else until end of August as I had to go somewhere and hadn't heard from her so had assumed the worst... so, she'd be guilt-tripped and I'd end up not !!!!ing people about (too much).

Had a nosy at any more houses?

Was thinking wouldn't do any harm to register your e-mail with local agents in case something comes on that's sooo good it gets snapped up before it hits RM.

oh Viva I tried the ticket website last night and today and only got selections for 2k each 0-0

I think we'll just go do the cable cars instead one day.

Was just about to google CPZ as I couldn't figure out what it was then it dawned on me.:D

Zoomed across to the other side of Croydon today in record time.:) Not quite like a ghost town, but not the perpetual traffic crawl I've known in the past.

Mind you our nearest Olympic events are miles away at Crystal Palace, which (along with Dulwich) IIRC is in the mysterious off-the-map no-man's land between SW and SE London.

My husband went out about fifty minutes ago for 'five mins' and is not yet back. I am trying to work out whether its worth going to see if he is alright or not......

This happens here, and we have a much smaller acreage.

We've found the best thing to use to attract the other party is a bell. It's quite a high-pitched ring, but it cuts through tractor noise and windy rustlings very well. :)

Well, better than the alternative of him not coming back.

Still, he is trying to get me to eat salty food now. (feta? Have some feta birdy, come on, you like feta? No...what a bout licking a cracker.....) like i am some ill and moody child who will not swallow its calpol. I do not believe i need extra salt in my diet, i do not like salty things very much.

Besides i am glugging on these brilliant italian diuretic type drinks to drink in hot weather, they help immensely.

oooh what are the drink things? You could try the salt licking for a day or two just to see if it helps but if you have an instinct of 'no' ...could be a reason.
I think the heat is going away on Saturday for a while ...in fact the rain could come back (no please no).

Actually, I'll post this here was having a chat with team yesterday about big gentle horses and photo shoots and things. Photographer lived in your area until recently but still connected to down that way.

Would be for summer range 13 though shooting wouldn't take place until Nov :( when it's cold and dark and miserable. I'll have a think and message you in a few eeks time if I have an idea. The team is only small (3 people) and it only takes 2 hours usually.

Not looked since the last disappointing look - I think I need to relax a bit and get to know other areas more.... might be some splendid areas close by if I open my mind to them. I guess I was spoilt from day one being so close to town/beach.... and then wanted a £500k place for about £90k :)

I need to discover what the area's got to offer, how the routes work for traffic/flow and where stuff is.
