Good call GDB! Big fan, particularly of the Clovis stories! As a lover of short stories, I wholeheartedly recommend Saki (HH Munro). He has the added advantage of being out of copyright, so very MSE. This is one of my favourites:

Loved his work as well; was one of the key authors we had to study in Higher English IIRC. I tried to visit some of the locations when I visited California.lemonjelly wrote: »Agreed.
Also amazed that there is no Steinbeck on the fiction list too....
Can I guide you to this

for O.Henry's works
I was going to find Dorothy Parkers's stories but they may still be in copyright.
This collection may be useful though

But yes. I think its time to consider a part ex. Which, frankly, terrifies me.
The only time I have ever bought a car from a dealer, I haggled for a discount and eventually got one; ..........as long as you take that thing away with you.
[Actually I wanted to keep the 11 year old mini as I was working on a short term deal away from home while looking for a new job - guess which one of us got to drive the replacement car for the next few months, until we went back down to an one car family again. I spent a weekend touching up the old mini and giving it the finest "T" cut and polish in its life time and thus got a very reasonable price for it.]0 -
Just heard this on Pointless and thought someone might like it:
* What is the easternmost state in the US?
* What is the westernmost state in the US?
Roll over below for answer:
Alaska is both the most eastern and most western as well of course as the most northern.
Sorry, have had to remove hyperlink to Wikipedia entry to Attu Island as I can't make it white.

One I remember from when I was little was this one: http://www.classicshorts.com/stories/Storyteller.html
And while browsing for it, I came across this, which is another Clovis gem: http://haytom.us/showarticle.php?id=108Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Today I saw a shop of Gollies... took a couple of snaps, but haven't removed them from my camera .... snaps were poor as I was sneakily trying to snap them inside a dark building before I was told off for photographing anything... so no time for settings, just camera out, aim, snap, away.
