So glad I don't have a ticket for Silverstone this weekend. I've been dragged out of the car park by tractor before now and its no fun. The fact that its now years on from that and still this supposed world class facility has little proper parking for the public goes to show how much more development is needed there.
No doubt Bernie will be seeing yet more reasons to move the Grand Prix somewhere else, possibly abroad. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Scarier still when you are not in a car but a lorry full of horses. On grass parking is the norm at many, international equestrian competitions.
With the problems of flooding we are seeing this summer, imo, its clear why we have to consider graa and natural ground reduction as a risk...minimising the areas where rain is absrobed is meant to be a significant increase in risk of flash floods. it concerns me that dots are not being joined at that we still see population growth for pensin provision as more importnat than realising that quality of life, and resources for life cannot stretch indefinitely. If we got a grip on things while they were still hood it would be better for our children and our childrens childrens children.
The only solution i can see as mutually acceptable to the parking is the honey comb matting stuff over grass, which people dislike as they still have to wear boots etc as essentially its still grass. It can also be very difficult for people who use mobility aids other than chairs, sticks etc can sink between honey comb cells.0 -

I would imagine its scarier than that if you have a horsebox rather than a lorry as they are less stable again. I hadn't thought of that before and it must be very worrying.
If, as seems likely, we are going to have a few years of rainy summers on the trot, we'll have to do something about this. We can't just have snow grinding the roads to a halt in winter and then rain causing flooding in major areas in summer, it makes us a laughing stock. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Yes, i was using horsebox and lorry , but guess you mean trailer type?
Its funny really, when i was young i had a box that was dangerously near, or over, the edge of the weight limit. It was very old and very stable, but very heavy. Changing to a younger lighter box was a relief because i felt safer re legal weights, and it had other advantages, but never felt as stable as my heavy old slow mobile. Now they make tiny little one and two horse vehicles, in rebault masters. I would feel very, very worried i think about some of these, though think its amazing, the idea.
I don't like towing trailers. I tow very slowly, causing ire to others, as i am not skilled enough to give quality of ride otherwise to the horses. I hate seeing others in te situation of tail wagging the dog, and it would be horrific i imagine.0 -
I'm not too worried as at the moment I have a self-watering garden, but can you believe there's still a hosepipe ban in Hertfordshire? I'm speaking from a house that has its lights on because it is so dark from the rain outside. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? No rain quite here yet but I figure this year will be a first. My outdoor toms will have blight before they are set!
Paddleroundthepier will be dun if the rain hits us as predicted.0 -

Oh dear!
We are really struggling with water now, and i am going to have to find out if i can get rid of it any cheaper than seeing if the septic tank people will take it. I reckone that we have several hundred pounds worth, may be a thousand? Of surface water to take away in the cake now, because it needs to be emptied to be able to take next winters surface water..

Our veg are terrible. The caulis have been eaten to nothing whatsoever. We have one really decent kohlrabi, and the beets and carrots look ok. Everything else....doubt it will make anything.0
