The solicitor will write a template letter, try to intercept it by some careful vetting and return it to sender unopened mark
NO CONTRACT _ RETURN TO SENDER
That will really show them you are not going to be messed around.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

It's all through email except a couple of calls, so I have a full transcript of everything said, which is nice.0

So I sold a car yesterday (28th May), I'm a private seller, the buyer test drove it thoroughly, bought it, took it away, signed the reciept which states sold as seenand it could be the condensor, which is an expensive job. They're asking me for compensation to get it fixed. where legally do I stand? They're stating they're taking legal advice, and that they can't be 100% sure that the air con ever was working, even though yesterday it was one of the hottest days of the year.
This aircon issue is just a con. Don't worry about it."Retail is for suckers"

No.
This was a private sale. The buyer even signed to say it was sold as seen (though not even necessary to pit the vendor in the "clear").
If the buyer went to court, it would be at the vendor's local court, the claimant would lose and the vendor get his expenses paid by the claimant for having to go to court!
If the buyer wanted a warranty he shouldn't have bought privately (though the warranty would have been reflected in the price he would have had to pay at a dealer)
Even a private sale, the car has to be as described and it was described as having climate control - which as it turns out isnt working.
It would be anyones guess what would happen in court if the buyer said the first time they turned it on was on the way home and it wasnt working BUT, as has subsequently transpired, the seller has a text from the buyer saying it was working immediately after the time of sale.
On that basis alone, i dont think theres much the buyer can do.0 -
You sure they are actually using it probably?Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

Well, lots of good advice. Let's hope the buyer doesn't nip into the local garage, get it fixed, and come away with a report saying it had a microscopic leak, the sort you could re-gas with a can from Halfords in the morning, then it would last a day or two, then leak away again. Saying as we're all sure there is absolutely no comeback, and the buyers already going to be adding the solicitor fees on top of the work. So long as you're all sure with the op's money.0

It was advertised as having aircon. It has aircon. Is there a reasonable assumption that the aircon should work? Not really... loads of used cars have aircon problems, it's a classic downside to buying USED cars... and it doesn't affect the ability of the car to get from A to B.
They're probably just trying it on anyway, it seems to be quite common these days for people to do this.0 -

I guess your idea of great condition is a bit lower than mine. For a 5 grand car, I'd expect the advert to be a list of things that actually work, or I'd see the op in court. Just my opinion if I'd bought it.0 -
For all you know they could have tried to top up the aircon.
A lot buy these kits and try to attach them on the high level line on top of the engine and end up de-pressurising the system, most inlets are behind the wheel arch.
How would you know they had just not de-pressurised the system messing about under the bonnet.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
