My cousin, for his sins, works at Tesco as a security guard and he's escorted quite a few people from the premises for this practice. He's also quite hot on with people who buy grapes and eat them on the way around the store. The first time someone does it he will replace the half eaten bag with a new one at the till. Should they repeat it or refuse to pay for a full bag then its banned and prosecuted.
I'm all for saving money myself, but theft is something I would never condone.0 -

Quite right.
I have never understood how people do not seem to see this as stealing. It is no different than putting them in your bag and walking out without paying!0 -
I've bought a lime which was from a multipack as individual, but only because someone else had opened the bag before and took the other limes out. I got the last lime in Tesco, there were no other loose or bagged ones around!! It went very nice in my Pimms.
I'd never open a new bag and take one out of it though.0 -
Consider yourself told. Only the supermarkets are allowed to commit daylight robbery.VoucherMan wrote: »I refuse to buy pre-packed fruit as I'm not going to pay an extra 50% for some non recyclable packaging that I don't want.
Bought some bananas there once. All that was left were pre-packed bananas for 99p. I removed the unnecessary bag (not only unnecessary but making the fruit sweat so decreasing shelf life) & when I came to pay got charged less than 50p for them.0 -

When I worked on checkouts I'd often get parents hand me a banana skin that their child had eaten the contents of, along with the rest of the bunch. So, I'd bin the skin, weigh the bunch, then tear off one of the bananas and weigh that.0 -

Difference being what the supermarkets are doing isn't illegal and you have the choice to buy or not to buy the product they offer. If you feel it's daylight robbery, vote with your feet.
Shoplifting is illegal, though again you have the choice of whether you would like a criminal record for theft hanging over you.0 -
Hi sorry first time here don't know how to start a new post re tesco did I check online to plan my weekly shop saw low fat chicken fillets on offerhalf price £6 down to £3 until 5 June. Good offer went to my local store the chicken was there but the £3 price labels had been covered with the yellow stickers they use to reduce items and the label on the fridge says £6. Unfortunately I don't have a camera phone so couldn't take a photo. Don't know anything about consumer law does any one know if this is legal. If you could let me know as going to write to tesco0

Never said I was condoning it but supermarket's are still taking the !!!!. Doubling the price just for putting something in a bag. And it was poor quality by the sound of it.pulliptears wrote: »Difference being what the supermarkets are doing isn't illegal and you have the choice to buy or not to buy the product they offer.
