Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th May 2012 . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Off to work soon, today is the day I find out about the 'alteration' to our pay, I'll probably need a stiff drink when I get home, a stiff drink of water, as that is all I'll be able to afford!
Packups are made, fish fed, ankle still swollen, Pork chops & new potatoes for tea for hubby, not sure what I'll have as I can't eat pork.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

    Morning All,
Last night I had a nasty fall beside my house.
I pressed my Lifeline button, but as I lay on the ground, a young couple were passing by. They heard my cries for help, and immediately came and picked me up and took me inside. My neighbours appeared and patched me up, then about an hour later this couple came back to "Check you are okay".
I was so shaken up I forgot to ask their names.
Society is very quick to condem youngsters these days, but they are not all hooligans. :T

Feeling battered and bruised now. Deep cuts on knee, have lacerated hand, bruised shoulder and black eye:eek:

Was supposed to have DGD today, but DD says she will have to get the day off instead.

Going to cosset myself instead today.:o

Not sure what I will have for dinner today. Had a lovely Rosemary Conley curry that I made from her recipe last night.

    Have a good day everyone.
    I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Hilstep - rest up today. I know how shocked you feel after a fall and it really effects your confidence xx
Hester - thinking of you today xx

A quiet day is on the cards as I was awake in the night. My eyes are closing as I type this so a quick snooze is on the cards after I have seen youngest son off to school for an exam.

I have Osteopathy this afternoon and my last Mindfulness session this evening. I will also attempt some more washing.
    Have a lovely day xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Good Morning all,
Oh dear histep hope you are feeling better today its rotten when you have a fall as it shakes you up doesn't it I agree not all youngsters are hooligans.I know my eldest DGS is a kind lad and would be the first to help anyone he saw in trouble, and has done on various occasions.Sadly we only hear about the bad 'uns in the newspapers not the millions of good kids out there.
Well another scorcher by the looks of things I am going to do the ironing when I come back from the school runand get it out of the way.I don't want it to pile up to a mountain and at the moment I only have about 9 or 10 bits to do.Looking at my bag that i got marked on sunday at the beach I'm not so sure that its ink I think it may be tar which is even harder to get off of leather .I may have to think of a way of covering the marks if I can't get them out.I so like the blooming thing as well which is a nuisance. It has a zip up bit on the strap that I can put my mobile in so I can get to it easily if it rings instead of fumbling around in the depths iyswim.Still my eldest DD said she is going to treat me to a nice new one when she goes to NYC in October as the bags there are brilliant and she knows exactly what sort I like .
well time to get a wriggle on I hope MG has a brilliant holiday in Greece and anyone else who is off on their hols .Long bank holiday week-end looming so I want to get all the housework up to date so I can relax and enjoy the Jubilee celebrations .
Have a good day everyone what ever you maybe doing
    Cheers JackieO xxx

    Morning :hello:

Hilstep all that from a fall  Please take it easy

I had a rant last night, it ended up lasting quite a long time so I moaned at a few friends (thank you, girls), drank lots of wine and ate ice cream :D My head is surprising unfuzzy this morning, though it's taking a while to wake up properly, lol.

I've upped my exercises for my hip/leg/knee (the sciatic nerve is very long and I think it likes to keep you guessing, lol), it'll be sorted very soon, I can feel it :D Everything is so much easier to do.

I need to change the shower curtain today, I keep two so the used one can have a good soak before washing. There always seems to be someone in the shower here so I daren't leave it off for more than about three hours :D Why does the curtain go orange at the bottom?

I'll give the veg patch a good soaking in a mo, it could do with weeding so I'll do that later. Apart from that, I'm just pottering about today.

    Morning all,

Another hot one here :D, loving the weather, will put a wash on in a while.

DD is off to the place she volunteers today, so I have a whole day to myself:D, although I have such a big to do list, including offiice work, housework (top to bottom) online shopping, and go and see dad. I was supposed to do most of this yesterday, but spent the whole afternoon in the garden instead:D, its looking good out there atm, got 18 broad bean plant in, and a Jasmine to hopefully climb and cover the shed.

I would like to get all my jobs done this morning, so that I can spend a bit more time outside this afternoon.

There is some cold pork for dinner, so will use that somehow.

Hilstep, ouch, poor you, and thank god that young couple came along, you take very good care of yourself xxxx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all

Hill step - take care x

Looks lovely outside this morning but much cooler -yay! Me and heat don't get on.

JackieO - I've lost many a nice bag/top/shorts to the tar on the beach....horrid stuff....but it would be rude to say no to a new bag! :T

WM will be on in a bit, just waiting for DDs to get off to school and I'll root in their rooms for the stray stuff that hasn't made it to the washing basket. We're forecast rain tomorrow so want to take advantage of the nice day.

DD1 has English language GCSE this morning, she love English so no nerves today. She spent yesterday at the beach with a group of friends, nice to see them relaxing.

DD2 had a great birthday and got more money, she's asked me to put it in the bank so it doesn't get "frittered away", good girl!!! Not sure I was so restrained with money at 14.

DHs medical went as expected, lovely Dr, very down to earth and realistic. He told us what his report would say, so we ow just wait for the "goodbye" letter from work. Bittersweet for DH as whilst he knows hes not well enough to return his career is now over, hard when you've worked at something for so long. The Dr did indicate that we may want to seek second opinions on some of DHs medical issues, he feels we may have been fobbed off a bit.

Dinner tonight will be chicken curry with naans and I've got loads of bananas to use up so will do something with them, probably muffins and shove them in the freezer as I seem to have a glut of cakes at the moment.

Hope you all have a great days.
