Light In The Box SCAM

I ordered a wireless ip camera from https://www.lightinthebox.com on the 27th April and they said 20days delivery. So 20 days past and I was then told to wait a few more days. I waited a few more days and next they tell me to wait............................38 days. I have contacted my bank and they are refunding the charge. So best advice I can give is AVOID using them.

I bought some wraps for my bridesmaids from them with no problems at all. Are you sure your item isn't stuck in customs? I think mine may have been delayed for a couple of days by some over-zealous customs inspectors

First time I ever ordered anything online was from "Light in the Box".I was amazed at how efficient they were. After my order was e-mailed I received confirmation and all details back within a minute and item was received as promised in the said 5 days.

I’m with Coullio and Gastines here.

Used them and certainly will use again.

LITB - Please be aware that it’s an offence to use MSE for business purposes (I clearly state I run a business, but nowhere on these forums have stated what I own, so I can’t be accused of touting).

  • I've just ordered 2 pairs of dance shoes from LITB. But, a friend has told me that she's found lots of really bad reviews about them! Has anyone ordered any dance shoes from them and if so, how did the transaction go? I've read all their small print and felt that the price I've paid them is fair, I bought with my credit card so am not unduly worried at the moment! Incidentally, I bought 2 pairs of custom made dance shoes last year from a very similar company called Terrier Playnet and had no problems with that company. Any thoughts?
  • Same purchase

    Dance shoes in early september...
Now early December, no shoes and no refund after weeks of promises.. Just oh delay here of 5-6 business days, despatch delay 7 working days, refund process in 7 days, accounts delay 2-3 days...

The list goes on... please avoid save your money still no refund!!
  • We ordered curtains from these guys, total cost at that point just over £200; a .co.uk web site with prices in £. Order acknowledged etc. and everything seemed OK.

A week later a call from DHL who have a parcel but with £80 duty and VAT to pay. Paid and curtains duly arrived the next day - good quality and still good value at £300.

Just be aware that goods come from China and the purchaser is responsible for the customs duty (if any) and VAT.

Would we use them again? Yes, but after making due allowance for additional shipping costs.:)

  • I ordered curtains recently and found that the delivery was held up until I had paid duties of £67 before they were finally delivered.
On opening the box it was found that the colour did not match the colour that was displayed in the photo advertised.
I got back on the web site to request information for the return and refund of the goods.
In a reply I received what I thought was a very curt response and was told that because the curtains was 'bespoke' I could not return them and that I could 'possibly sell them on Ebay'.
The curtains ordered as far as I can see are not 'bespoke' they were picked from a dropdown menu on the original screen, i.e. standard set lengths and widths.
I have sent a complaint to their 'Supervisor' and as yet have not received a reply (1 day required).
Reading numerous threads on other web sites havs made me think that i am knocking my head against a brickwall and will never again order anything outside Europe or even the UK.
Is there any way I can push this further - paid by credit card - would they be able to guide me?

We just got this - what an absolute scam.

If you pay for a goods and postage, you should not be hit for hidden charges like this.

Am surprised people above are happy paying an extra £80 in hidden fees.

It's a Chinese website whose contact address is hidden away in the Terms of Use: 7/F., China Insurance Group Building, No. 141 Des Voeux Road Central, Hong Kong.

The import taxes are not a scam. It's certainly underhand of LITB not to tell its customers that they will have to pay these but how else would their prices look so attractively low?

In future make sure that you're buying from a British based website. Reputable merchants will have their contact address and phone number prominently displayed not hidden like these Chinese shysters.
