Food Ideas for a child's family buffet b'day party

Sorry for the long title... I wasn't sure how to word it.
I'm doing a family and friends 'get together' for my DS's 4th birthday on 24th this month and was after some food suggestions
I'm really not into the whole jam sandwiches and party rings thing for the children, so I'm afraid they're eating what the adults do. I was hoping for some suggestions of easy, funky homemade bits that I can make with my little cooking skills and time (I work full time)
So... here are my thoughts:
the usual suspects.... shop bought sausage rolls and chicken goujons. I also think MIL is bringing some party nibbles down that weren't cooked for Christmas
The home made stuff... how does everyone think the following would go down:
- bite sized burgers without buns. A range of dips? I'm good at burger making, lol
- "tortilla wrap" pizza, cut into small squares
....and there stops my inspiration. Has anyone got any other idea to throw my way?
Oh, and dessert is sugar free jelly and diabetic ice cream (ds is Type 1 diabetic and I figure if it's okay for him, why go to the expense of buying different for everyone else, and why should he be singled out either?)
Thanks
Shortie

Small triangular sandwiches/ a fruit and veg platter with cut up strawberries, apples, grapes (cut in half) kiwi, cucumber, carrots, tomatoes, celery, etc.
Keep it simple cause anything too creative will be a struggle for the kids0 -
Has the party got a theme?That's Numberwang!0

Dips and veg sticks and bread sticks to dip in them.
Make tiny quiches in a bun tin - easier for little ones to manage rather than a slice of quiche. You can do the same with meat or fruit pies as well.
Chicken thighs/drumsticks with different marinades. You can do breast fillets cut into strips for the ones who can't manage bones.
Gingerbread men are popular with both children and adults!
Have you got a punchbowl? Children think fruit punch is great. Chop up a selection of fruit for the bowl and top up with juice. It's more healthy than fizzy pop too. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Thanks everyone
No, there's no theme.. it's more of a 'get together than a party as it were (hope that made sense)
Oooooo... I like the idea of the fruit punch.. like a childrens Pimms.... I'll have to see if I can find someone with a punchbowl.
I didn't think of drumsticks... doh! children and adults love them! I can then make kebab skewers too for the children who can't manage bones, and adults who just fancy one.
I think the quiches sound a little bit time consuming for me at the mo (plus I've never made a quiches in my life) but they do sounds delish. Thanks for the suggestion
Can anyone sugest any vege alternatives as I think I've got a couple of vegetarians coming too?April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Potato and sweet potato wedges; peel, slice into chunks, drizzle in olive oil and cook for about 20mins. Dont' even have to peel the potatoes. That's Numberwang!0

I'd have to suggest... Cheese and pineapple
Although, second thoughts cocktail sticks arent too good with younguns..
Carrot sticks and sticks of other veg usualy go down well0 -
We always use chopped up straws for cheese and pineapple sticks for little ones!!That's Numberwang!0
