They could have refused it as this point...!!

didn't notice the marks, light isn't the best on a night in our living room or believe me I would of refused :( think we were distracted by the lateness and the stories of their problems finding us and the rushing to get it in so they could get home to child....

the smoke smell was not as strong as it is now, there was more of a sweet horrid smell, i just thought why do people spray their furniture with smelly stuff. Niave I know :(
I need to start saving so I plan to save £2 a week to start with:beer:

Is it worth having it professionally cleaned? If you like the sofa and its only the smell thats the issue it may clean up nicely?

Lesson learned on your part I guess. I would never buy anything like that where I couldn't give it a good inspection first.

Talk to the seller. Perhaps they will agree to give you a partial refund, although I doubt it if they were sneaky enough not to mention the down sides in the listing. At least you can make your opinion clear via the feedback rating you eventually decide to leave them.

Can you take off the cushions & covers? If so get them outside to air, I'd also try & get the whole suite outside in the fresh air, it won't get rid of the smell completely but may help.
You may need to turn it upside down & sprinkle the bicarb inside on the frame. You'd need to split the fabric covering the base, maybe you could fill some socks or something with bicarb & pop them inside as well.
I googled getting rid on the smell, dove soap has been suggested for real leather.

I think that's a bit harsh. You have to take some responsibility for the fact that you failed to inspect the sofa before you paid for it.
