Hit by uninsured driver - need help

I will try my best to claim direct form the other peoples insurance than. I may be back for help with it though! I will wait until this evening to hear back form the police if not I will apply for the details myself and call as soon as I have them.
I have taken several photos of the car and also had someone out to look at it to confirm the damage (the man form the garage & body repair shop our family use). I can not move the car form the roadside so it will have to stay there. I had only just put £10 in the tank (glad I didn't fill up not!) the tax runs out Aug so if I am going to claim I might as well leave it taxed and include the cost in the claim
There is also the cost of a new (£275) child's carseat as it is unsafe to use one that has been in a bump even if it does not look damaged!Crazy unorganised mum in need of help!
NSD = 0/42 - July Shopping Challenge = 0/£40

How have you come to that conclusion?
You have nothing to lose by progressing this claim (via the third party)!
You will get all your costs plus a replacement car till yours is repaired/written off.
You have a number of threads all about this one incident and in all of them have been given sound advice on how to proceed (though ignore those telling you to use your own insurance policy to claim from!)
I would definitely go through the insurace, I did when somebody crashed into me and all costs were paid and I was supplied with a hire car.The more one gets to know of men, the more one values dogs.0 -

By all means add it to the claim but there's no reason to throw it away. The car was stationary when hit, your car seat will have suffered no damage what so ever.
This will all take much longer than untill August so you need to know what you will be doing with the car, try and get the TP insurers agreement that the car is to be destroyed and that they agree in principle that it is not economically repairable.0 -

Not necesarily the best way to go.
If a claim handler were to deal with this they would get the OP a replacement vehicle pending the third party's acceptable offer (assuming it is a write off), thereby allowing the innocent party to stay mobile whilst on the lookoit for a replacement.0
