Advice please: What would you do?

On Friday my son brought this to my attention: hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MMU-qccaJ8

In a way, it's been a blessing this happened as he has now told me he is getting bullied. I knew about it 2 years ago, but I thought it had stopped. I kept asking him and he would say things were fine! He's admitted alot now over this weekend, although it appears to be 2 seperate issues.

What do you think of the video? It's my son being kicked.

Thanks

  • What's your attitude in relation to going to the Police - assault is an offence.

Alternatively complain to youtube and get it removed. This reduces the appeal

To be honest, I was quite dumb struck when he showed me it. And since then I am getting dribs & drabs about bullying. I have no one to talk to about it really, so would like to hear oppinions here.

You know you are totally right about assult, and I hadn't even thought of the police. Thanks.
  • The other thing is it looks like it happened at school - talk to the school they should have a anti bullying policy?

Yes, it was at school & I was going to get in contact with them first thing tomorrow. I wasn't sure about getting it removed as I was thinking I then wouldn't have proof of what happened. Although my son wants it off asap.

Does anyone know of a way to save the video?

Definitely speak to the school and contact Youtube. Does he put up with this alot? Is it the same person/people that give him a hard time?

I think click share video, copy and paste the link and e-mail it to yourself.

hmmm but that doesn't help you saving the acutal video if the link is removed. Maybe someone on the techies board can help.

The "attack" itself doesn't look that bad - however it does support your son's claim of being bullied.

I would do the following - see the school about the bullying, the making of the video and the uploading of the video on to a public access site. They are in school uniform and that in itself should be enough to get them in action. I would expect swift, action to stop this and other bullying.

I would contact u tubeand get it removed - ask them if you can keep a copy for evidence.

Contact the police and see what they say - I guess they won't press charges but depending on the type of kid the aggressor is a visit from them may him stop. Lack of action from nay of these and I would contact the local press.

Just tried this and it worked. http://www.youtubex.com/ then put the link in for the video. Scroll down and click on the file to download it. Rename the file as .flv and then download the free flv viewer it recommends http://applian.com/replay-media-catcher/demo.php

I can understand you wanting to keep a copy as evidence. I don't know if there is a way to copy a video like this. Contact the school - see what they have to say and if it isn't enough try the police, or do both anyway - depending on what else your son says he has had to endure.

    This is not acceptable.

Edit - may be a way to save the video following this link: http://www.saveyoutube.com/
