Tried it my self when i was in japan 0.o didn't wanna know also tried it in aussie land didn't wanna know..... so what have i missed?
What were you trying to do?
Worked for me in Tokyo and the US, though I have a Premier account so they can access my details globally.
For me though, the big advantage is being able to open local current accounts - its just a shame they are closing their retail banks in Japan.

They place accounts as dormant for fraud purposes. I'm sure if somebody had got your details and took your money out you would have been really pleased!0

Well, I can certainly get my HSBC balance from ATM's overseas..
I think you may have assumed more into their advertising than they offer on your account..
Normally yes, though I meet it my keeping my ISA there.prem account? Christ you need a min of £50k to get one of them you lucky sod.
However, sometimes banks do waive the requirement. HSBC did for my UK colleagues in Japan (we are still paid in GBP).
